I just saw a commercial for the ICEE Maker by Spinmaster. At the end of the ad and on the website, it mentions that it is only available in certain counties in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Tennessee, and Texas. Does anyone know if there is some law that prevents sale or is it just a marketing agreement? BTW, there’s a complete list of counties and parishes where you can buy the toy on the Spinmaster website.
perhaps something to do with wet and dry counties…alcohol involved?
I would guess that it has something to do with whoever owns the Icee franchise in those states. Perhaps some distributor has an exclusive liscense for those counties and selling the “home version” through anyone but them would be a breach of contract?
The toy is available in Texas in wet and dry counties both. That list has a number of dry counties on it.
The latest Toys R Us catalog shows the icee maker and says at the bottom:
Maybe the catalog got it wrong and it’s the other way around?
