Why isn't the trivia domino thread considered a posting party?

200 pages? C’mon, especially when one of the posters comments on how many pages it has gone a few times.Seems a bit silly.

Because it is a game?

Max Wall was the inspiration for the Ministry of Silly Walks sketch by Monty Python.

I was interested for a while, but ‘trivia’ seemed to be few and far between. Almost a ‘fact dominos’ thread. But I wasn’t about to complain in-thread; if that’s what people were having fun with, so be it.

Isn’t the whole point of trivia that it’s factual? Or are you saying the stuff in the thread is too significant to count as “trivia?”

That’s why I didn’t say anything in the thread. See, I’m so smart that what mere mortals consider trivia I consider everyday knowledge.

…which is what I was actually trying to avoid sounding like. Also, I have no problem with the thread per se, it just ended up as a thread I don’t revisit.

But really, I think there is a line behind facts, background facts and trivia. I don’t know what the line is, but not all facts are trivia. I’d rather not point to an example because I don’t want to call anyone out. But for a vague example there are things in there like “blah blah blah [word] blah blah” … “[word] is part of [movie title] starring X Y and Z.” Or I agreed with the site I found the Max Wall fact bit. If I just said “John Cleese starred in the Ministry of Silly walks sketch,” that would be a plain fact. That’s not (to me) trivia, that’s word association.
Again, it’s just my opinion. I’m not a trivia snob, don’t play in any pub leagues, am not trying to change the thread, etc. Please don’t take anything as an insult to thread participants.
