Hey Mermaid, I’ve followed that California case pretty closely. In reading the news reports about it, if you read between the lines, one of the owners, Marjorie Knoller,probably was having sex with the dog. Knoller even told the police afterwards that Bane, the attacking dog, had stuck his nose in the victims crotch. When the victim tried to fend the dog off, she was attacked.
Also, I used to have a girlfriend who told me that her dog was trained to eat her pussy(I know, I know, but she was a real hot piece of ass). Anyway, she told me that she would stick hamburger up her twat, and let the dog eat and lick it out. In the short time we went out, whenever I was at her house having sex with her, the damn dog would be acting agitated and growling outside the bedroom door, as if he were pissed off that I was having sex with her instead of HIM.
To clarify that, the dog was acting agitated seemingly because I was screwing my girlfriend, instead of him screwing her.:o

K, this might be just for me…but “Don’t fuck dogs” seems to have promise as a band name. Although I dig the ‘Sex Pistols’…‘Don’t fuck dogs’ has promise. If not as a band name, at least an album.
Y’know, I work for a humane society, and people do some fucked-up shit to animals every day. I could tell you stories that would make your hair curl.
But we don’t euth every animal that’s been abused.
Nor do we euth every animal that’s been allowed to take a dominant position.
Far too many people abuse their animals, and plenty of them can be rehabilitated.
And a huge number of people have no idea how to socialize their animals properly.
While we’ve never (that I know of) dealt with animals involved in a zoophilic relationship, I don’t think we’d euth them immediately. Quite the contrary: their case would likely be so sensational that someone would volunteer to rehabilitate them.
Our decision to place an animal for adoption or to euth an animal is complicated. Certainly we won’t place animals that are aggressive – but we base that on the animal’s actual or reported behavior, not based on theoretical concerns.
I suspect people pay attention to bestiality because it’s sensational. Cute puppies are newsworthy. Sex is newsworthy. Cute puppies plus sex? Stop the presses.
I think there’s much worse abuse that happens out there every day that flies under folks’ radar because it’s just dreary and awful. I’d much rather see folks focus on the more common abuse: dogs left out in the yard 24 hours a day, animals being hit because they’re not housetrained, animals abandoned by the road because the owner is moving to a new apartment that doesn’t allow pets, litters of animals abandoned because the owner can’t be bothered to get the parents sterilized.
As for the Presario case: y’know, the owners also had books on raising fighting dogs, and had adopted a guy that was heavily involved in dogfighting. I think Occam’s razor would suggest that it was the fact that the dogs were fighting dogs that caused the problem.
