Some backstory:

  1. Barry Morphew looks a lot like his wife. Perhaps likeness attracts? Both appear to be attractive and healthy.

Title: Husband charged with murder of missing wife in Colorado also charged with voter fraud for filling out her ballot

My commentary:
This dude doesn’t watch true crime tv shows does he? Forensic Files is best.

I’ll bet you he was blabbing away with the police a they found multiple many discrepancies in his story.

Here’s how he SHOULD have handled it: say, “OFFICER, MY WIFE IS MISSING, I MISS HER.”

“ON THE ADVICE OF MY LAWYER, I SHOULD NO LONGER SPEAK TO YOU.”

“I’D LOVE TO HELP YOU, BUT ON THE ADVICE OF MY LAWYER, IT’S BEST THAT I NO LONGER SPEAK TO YOU.”

THIS GUY IS PROBABLY THINKING, “IF I DON’T BLAB TO THE COPS, THEY’RE GOING TO THINK I DID.”

WELL, BARRY, THEY ALREADY THINK YOU DID IT!!! They’re NOT stupid!

IT’S USUALLY THE HUSBAND OR WIFE.
THEY KNOW THIS *ALREADY

THEY ALREADY SUSPECT YOU, IT’S THEIR JOB TO BE PROFESSIONAL AND POLITE BUT THEY ALREADY SUSPECT YOU.

BY TALKING YOU ARE HELPING THEM HANG YOU!

PEOPLE, PLEASE LEARN! YOU’VE BEN TRAINED SINCE BIRTH TO TRUST AUTHORITY. SOMETIMES THAT’S APPROPRIATE, BUT YOU GOTTA BE SMART AND BE ABLE TO FIGURE WHEN NOT TO. IT’S LIKE A GAME, YOU’VE GOTTA OUTSMART THEM, AND SHUTTING UP IS ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL TOOL IN YOUR ARS.

I’m gonna guess he did kill his wife and there’s only a slim possibility that he would escape prosecution and conviction if he had shut up and only talked when his lawyer told him to. It’s one thing to be worried about being falsely accused without any evidence except your own ill advised statements, but when you actually did commit a crime then odds are there will be evidence that can be used against you even if you say nothing.

The warning about not talking to the police can be taken by those who do commit crimes, but I don’t care if they they talk to the police and hang themselves as a result. As a matter of fact I’d prefer they did almost all the time.

Since this is the second thread on this theme that you’ve started, you evidently feel deeply about the subject. I suggest however that if you write a book with tips on how suspects can hamper police investigations, try dispensing with ALL CAPS.*

By the way, I don’t think this guy resembles his wife.

The more you voluntarily interact with the cops or the media, the worse it gets for you.

He went on TV to plead for his wife’s return. I suppose it was a performance for his daughters too.

The cops were scrutinizing his performance. Why give them that opportunity?

Here’s what he should have said to his daughters, “Girls, I miss your mother and I did not harm her in any way. The cops will suspect me because that’s what they do–they suspect the husband always. I’m not going to help them.”

Why is this such an issue for you? It seems like every thread you start, every comment you make here is hammering this point again and again.

I might understand if you were refuting a thread with the opposite viewpoint… but I don’t remember ever seeing a “Spill your guts to the cops” argument here. Or a “Don’t shut up, don’t ask for a lawyer” thread.

So why does this particular topic mean so much to you?

For the record, Kenny, it doesn’t bother me, since it’s good advice.

I had a client respond to my email with one that started “I AM NOT YELLING AT YOU” and proceeded to be written in all caps. I’m not sure exactly what’s going on there, but at least she understood something about it.

Back in the day, we used to use all caps for faxes and I had some people who kept that up on email for a long time.

People who are vision impaired and refuse to increase their font size tend to write in all caps, IME.

He is a fucking liar and idiot.

But without a body, the charge can not stick. They would need very solid evidence a murder did occur to convict without a body, such as a lot of blood, etc.
