Why look it up if we can bother other folks? (mild, lame)

Isn’t that Googling for Godot?

You made my heart flip like a cement mixer (putti, putti).

You think that’s bad? I’ve got a wife ten* times my size (which makes her somewhat smaller than a googol and a lot smaller than a googolplex).

*Sources differ on the size of Barney Google’s wife, N.B.

Dunno. Guess we’ll just have to wait for it.

I’m not sure which mouthwash I should purchase. Should I Google for gargle?

I tried that and it didn’t work. The Google! It does nothing!

I looked it up in my Funkin’ Wagnall. It’s half of an item with two clear lenses that is placed over the eyes of an aviator or cyclist or anybody else to keep stuff from being blown into them. Or alternately it’s what guys/gals do when they want to look at pretty gals/guys (go ogle).

Hope I don’t have to hold my breath while we’re waiting.

Mild and lame, indeed. Did anyone notice his link exhorting us to use Google actually goes to Wikipedia? :dubious:

I don’t agree with this pitting, but that simply must have been the first and/or most useful result of a Google search.

Is it anything like a Gigli ?

I admit I sometimes post questions whose factual answers could be found with some searching but frequently I am as interested in the group answers. People bring their own experiences and special skills to The Dope and to me the beauty of the collective intellect and experience makes it worth it to poll Dopers instead of culling through Google cites.

YMMV.

Cartooniverse

Exactly. I could find out about nougat, or fractal patterns, or Tantric yoga or dark matter on Wikipedia, but by asking on the SDMB, I run a significant chance of someone having more detailed knowledge than Wiki, or personal or professional experience that’s more interesting and relevant. Not to mention all the unhelpful wisecracks, without which this board would be dull indeed.

Besides, if this board has room for three or four live threads about toilets and shitting, it certainly has room for one about nougat. As long as they aren’t the same thread.

I’ve posted questions in GQ only to have some dipshit chastise me for not using Google (usually with a snide “Google is your friend”), then linking to the results of their Googling (or simply reporting the results of the Googling) when the results are wrong. If you don’t already know the answer, Google might not help. SDMB can be a place where fact-checking happens, not just credulous Google-reportage.

You are thinking of Godel’s Google Theory - all sufficiently complex Google searches are either incomplete or inconsistent.

Where’s an enquiring mind to go then? Google is useless on the topic of “shitting nougat”, to say nothing of “dark tantric fractals.”

or fattening.

Somebody’s got to say it…

Band names!

So, is it pronounced new-get or nugget? I could ask in the original thread but it’s much more fun to bother people.

OK, you’re right. It is the first Google result for nougat. I didn’t actually Google it myself. I just moused over the link and noted the URL.

Why are you wasting our time when you could have just AltaVistaed that?
