Wow, I did a word search in this post, and not one suggestion that the clerk may very well be one of those anal types. Some can’t handle the smallest degree of disorganization. Relish in the fact that you probably sent her world spiraling out of control!
Wait, are saying that as a manager you would be okay with staff being rude to customers, as long as they told you they had reached maximum annoyance level?
It’s rude to offer help to a customer, straighten the merch that the customer has messed up, and then give the customer the information they asked for? Because that’s exactly what the OP was pitting.
Dunno about looking around, but every now and then, I’d get a free one-day membership to Sam’s Club in the mail, and one time a couple years back, I figured I’d take them up on it.
So I get there, show them my one-day pass, and the greeter sends me to the front desk. Where they ask to see my driver’s license, and start writing down the license number. For a one-day pass! I don’t think I asked why they needed that info - I was just completely steamed that they needed any personal info from me, just to take advantage of a one-day pass.
I simply took my driver’s license back before they could finish writing down the number, and got the fuck out of there.
Depends what the customer had done to irritate them.
Once at Costco I made the mistake of going back for a second sample of lobster spread on Club crackers, and the sample lady berated me… “Why don’t you just buy the can?” And I just said “It’s your job to make the samples and it’s my job to eat them.”
Actually I didn’t say anything but I’m hoarding that quote in case I ever catch flak from that wrinkly busybody again.
