Realistically this is what I’m going to do when my iPad finally breaks. Buying an android phone and use it like an iPod touch sounds great to me!

What is even better is a lot of android phones have microsd slots expandable to 32GB. A 32GB microsd card is only $20 now, and will probably drop to $10-15 next year.
The price difference in an 8GB vs 32GB ipod touch is $100 by comparison.
And many of them actually work with 64GB cards, including some that claim 32GB max.
I agree. It’s a niche, perhaps dying market.
I got rid of my iPod Touch when I got an iPad–Not because the screen was bigger, but because I can use 3G data on my iPad. This accentuated the limitations of the Touch. No good for travel, and only useful at home until a real tablet (which, as many have pointed out, is cheap) comes along.
But man I loved it when I didn’t have anything else.
