Why no lemon soda in the U.S.?

On Dr Pepper and Prunes: gotta love Snopes

As for Non-Diet Fresca - I think it’s called Citra

Almost forgot to add - Dr Pepper is supposed to be a cherry cola.

More like Dr Pepper and 7-Up are owned by Cadbury-Schweppes.

"The history of two great brands Dr Pepper and 7 UP became a greater mercantile enterprise in 1995 when Dallas-based
Dr Pepper/Seven-Up Companies, Inc. was acquired by Cadbury Schweppes plc (NYSE: CSG) of London, England. Merging two of America’s premier soft drink brands into the global confection and beverage company came as no surprise to the soft drink industry.

It was a stated goal of Cadbury Schweppes to become the world’s largest non-cola soft drink maker. By acquiring Dr Pepper and 7 UP, Cadbury’s goal was closer to reality. Then-Chairman Dominic Cadbury characterized it as, “the biggest move for the
(Cadbury Schweppes) Beverage Group since the merger of Cadbury and Schweppes more than 25 years ago.”"

I stand corrected - or at least updated.

It’s just so unusual, in these days of American corporate gigantism, to see a British company at the top of any world market.

I’d agree with that - and I’m British!

Sunkist Sparkling Lemonade seems to be pretty popular around here. Thank goodness, because it’s one of my favorites! It’s “Canned under the authority of Dr. Pepper/Seven-Up”. If I buy it for D&D games, it often disappears :).

Perhaps Minnesota is some sort of haven for obscure flavors–I see Tab all the time, and who still drinks that stuff?

Not so, according to the Straight Dope website.

William Poundstone, in his book Big Secrets reveals that Dr. Pepper is actually a flavor composed of artifical vanilla, lactic acid, and assorted fruit flavorings (almost certainly citrus fruits).

I’m surprised no one mentioned Wink soda yet…did they stop making it? I really loved the stuff, but haven’t had it in a few years at least.

Wink was a grapefruit soda. I loved it and haven’t seen it in years.
