Not sure if he’s a martial arts instructor or riffing off a former character in Schlock Mercenary…
I assumed it came from the classic video game System Shock, where the main antagonist was an evil AI named SHODAN. It was one of the biggest influences on first person shooter games for years afterward so it would be a good homage.
That makes sense. Given how heated some political debates can be with Shodan, a bunch of us sometimes feel like we want to (metaphorically) shoot him.
ETA: of course, I’m being facetious. It’s hyperbole. No one wants to actually shoot him.

He’s mentioned before that he took the name from the martial arts term, and has never seen the video game.
