Going along my Judaism and Ark of the Covenant kick, what is there to prevent Jews from building an Ark of the Covenant today?
Sure, it may be filled with what the Bible originally said it was to contain, but that’s no reason not to make one.

They don’t get Legos for Christmas?
I got one! Lisa asks her friend, “Sally- why do you hang around with that sadist?”
Sally says, “Beats me.”
Maybe they would find out that even with todays technology no such ark could exist…that would suck. OTOH, they would need some sort of divine intervention, which must have been present with the original…I’m just spouting ideas here, feel free to shoot me down
How would building the Ark need advanced technology? It’s a simple wooden box, covered in gold, with a rod on each side, with a gold cover, and two golden cheruvim. That’s it.
If you mean the “special affects,” well that’s not the point of the Ark to begin with.

Hahaha! My magic worked!
Please read: “Sure, it may be filled with what the Bible originally said it was to contain, but that’s no reason not to make one.”

I suppose that there is nothing stopping anyone from taking a box, lining it with gold, making golden rings and putting wooden staves lined with gold in the rings. And I suppose that if you can get around the whole “graven image” prohibition, you could even make the kapores (cover for the Ark) if you had enough gold (it had to be made from a solid piece of gold).
But even if you did, it wouldn’t be “the Ark” anymore than my building a large golden seven-branched candelabra makes my creation “the Menorah” of the Tabernacle.
