Why on earth are people still smoking without trying to switch to vaping?

I said it was an experience with vapers (as in people who vape), not with having personally vaped. Yes, I do find it more noxious than tobacco smoke. I quit smoking a few years ago after having had a stroke to which I suspect the smoking was a contributing factor. Like many ex-smokers, I now find the smell of tobacco smoke unpleasant. Even before I quit smoking, I didn’t like heavy, perfumey, frooty (yes, I meant to smell it that way because they don’t smell like real fruit) aromas. Especially when I was a teen, they frequently gave me a headache or made me queasy.
It is possible, you must understand, for tobacco smoke to stink AND for vaping vapors (or whatever the cool kids call it) to stink too. They just don’t stink in the same way. I prefer not to have somebody blowing either one in my direction.

The JUUL ecig I mentioned earlier really does hit very much like a real cigarette. It uses a newer form of nicotine than traditional eliquids called nicotine salt. I’ve been vaping for several years after being a heavy smoker for 40 years and the JUUL kicks my ass. It’s great for those just beginning the process of quitting smoking.

There are some other devices on the market using nicotine salts but I mention JUUL specifically because it widely available. You can also buy nicotine salt eliquid to use in your own devices; that’s much less expensive in the long-run because the pod type ecigs give you about five cents worth of nicotine in the pods and charge you $20 to $25 for it – but they are a very good way to show people that ecigs can hit well enough to satisfy that urge for a cigarette.

Switching to vaping is a process, not usually a one-time magic. It takes some experimenting in the beginning and spending some bucks on stuff that doesn’t work out for you, but after a while you find what you like.

If you tried ecigs and didn’t find them satisfying, try something with nicotine salt.

This page gets a little sciency and might scare those with a “chemicals are bad, m’kay” attitude:

Why Nicotine Salt Is The New Craze

Yeah they make me cough more than cigarettes do, I guess it’s a new ‘cloud’ to get used to breathing in.

A lot more freely available and socially acceptable than H.

I’ve tried smoking nicotine using a hookah, but really hated the flavours. So much so I couldn’t smoke with friends as the taste put me off. I like tobacco-flavoured nicotine delivery systems, the clouds of sickly sweet gas enveloping vapers I find horrible, and as repellent as people who’ve covered themselves in strong perfume, or coffee with added caramel syrup.

I find this repeated complaint by the smokers in this thread amusing.

First of all, so vape vapor smells bad to you. Do you know what cigarette smoke smells like to us? Quit yer bitchin.

And second, obviously the fact that you smoke means you somehow got used to the amazingly awful smell of cigarette smoke - so awful that most hotel guests who don’t smoke refuse to even sleep in a room a smoker has smoked in.

Maybe you could man up and learn to deal with vape smoke. If not for your health, for the fact it doesn’t cost you so much money per day!

Why are you being so hostile to people who are taking time out of their day to answer the questions that you posed?

One thing I have learned over the years. Whenever anyone tells you that you need to “man up” to support an argument, that argument is intellectually bankrupt. It tends to not reflect well on the person stating it either.

You can have your apology back. It’s hard to believe that it’s sincere when you just insulted the next smoker to participate. Given that, I’m back to not interacting with you outside the pit, as it would be a violation of the rules to share my opinion of you anywhere else.
