Your link doesn’t go where I assume you want it to.
I’m struggling to think of anything significant here.
‘Beclowned’? Hehe.
Ooops
Here you go
I don’t see trump as Hitler. Putin is Hitler, trump is Mussolini.
How did that story end again?
America won?
Donald isn’t capable of making trains run on time.
To be fair, neither was Mussolini.
Yeah, but everybody said he did so that’s just as good.
I think it’s just “Reagan’s rule” … my gods, I grew up with Democrat parents who HATED him (some of my earliest memories were them swearing at him on the TV that had a DIAL and no remote!), and I remain very liberal, and sure he fucked over a lot of poor people as well as the middle class, and never mentioned AIDS from 1981 to 1989 which was when the most people, particularly gay men, IV drug users and unfortunate recent blood transfusion recipients, in the USA, were just dying in droves… but he seems (now) like he was a sort of great man (and I never thought I would say that!) until his dementia got him in the end and he had to eat jellybeans to look like he was talking… points if you get that reference… But anyway. Working to broker peace with Russia with Gorbachev, he was a pretty awesome diplomat with a powerful, mature, measured, sane countenance… of course the bar is set so low now with Trolldemort, the spoiled man child with several personality disorders that acts like an eight-year-old with untreated ADD and who managed to get in a Twitter war with the POPE… even freaking W looks good. he at least had empathy and no glaring personality disorders, though he wasnt really the brightest president we’ve ever had. Watch his speech some time on the morning of 9/11 standing in the rubble at ground zero and saying that Islam is a religion of peace and these people were not true Muslims, they were perverting the religion. And for everyone to love each other on this terrible day etc. A little different from how Muslims are described by Trump (who you can also find on YouTube on the morning of 9/11, calling into a radio show and he just can’t resist mentioning/boasting that now that the World Trade Center buildings are down, HIS building is now the tallest building in New York. He is so fucking insecure I swear to God. I think that is maybe the worst thing I’ve ever heard him say, well that and saying Mexicans are murderers and rapists, oh or that he’ll pay for the lawyers of people who beat up black protesters at his rallies, but you know, who can choose, really? It was definitely the worst timed thing I’ve ever heard him say. Before the dust was even settled.
ANYWAY, Sorry to get lost in that rant. The point is, I can appreciate regular sane Republicans now.
Man, I would hate to be a Reagan Republican right now and watch this guy destroy the Republican party’s name, ideals and policies, and not be able to say anything about it because of the (long ago, sorry again for getting off topic!) aforementioned “Reagan’s rule”:
“Never speak badly of another Republican in public”.
Or however it was phrased. You can do a Something search on it. Another reference; you can get lots of points!
This is why the GOP win sometimes more often, they stick together and suppress their dissension, the Democrats fight amongst themselves, e.g. Clinton vs Bernie. Boy, that was a fun time on Facebook!
But…Wow I apparently had a lot to say before the following comment/question i originally replied to write.
I’m curious about what you said above. I thought in 1944, Hitler’s compatriots decided it would be worse for them if they lost the war (and it was pretty obvious they would at that point) if Hitler was in charge, so they tried to replace him with someone else who seemed less insane and genocidal, and Hitler found out and ended up killing all those guys plus like 4000 more Germans. I don’t know if millions of Germans were still supporting him at that point? But maybe that info was only known in the inner circle. Do we have evidence that he had millions of actual supporters in 1944? Or were they maybe people just doing what they were told? Will we ever know? Remember there was no public dissension allowed in the fascist Nazi-occupied countries…
“Liberal outrage increases Trump’s support!”
These people supported Trump anyway.
If I criticize Trump, they support Trump.
If I remain silent, they still support Trump.
Since both options lead to same outcome, I choose the one that doesn’t require me to be silent.
“Groupthink!”
Telling me that I am wrong MERELY because other people share my idea is not an effective way to discredit me. (Unless, of course, your audience is other Trump supporters.) If you want to change my mind, try proving that my claim is factually incorrect. Telling me I’m wrong FOR NO OTHER REASON than other people share the same sentiment is just another stupid and lazy tactic to silence people without actually refuting their argument.
The whole “Groupthink” thing is just a rather sad rationalization that the only reason that everyone is telling you (generic you) that you’re a moron is because they are all a hivemind incapable of independent thought. The possibility that there might be a strong body of evidence that you are genuinely a moron cannot even be passingly considered.
It’s the same argument that says that if FoxNews says X and the rest of the media say Y, it proves that the rest of the media must be the ones that are lying.
lyannawolfgirl, Republicans are a lot more nasty to each other in primaries than Democrats are.
Yep. And this is how it usually goes:
Me: “X is bad.”
Conservative: “You just think that because the media/Hillary/liberals/whatever told you X is bad.”
Ummmm… No. I’m saying this because that is my own idea and I genuinely believe it. Whether other people believe it or not is none of my concern. And if I already believe X, do they really think that pointing out how most people share that belief will make me stop believing X?
I really suspect the answer is “Yes.” Studies have consistently demonstrated people choose fringe ideas or conspiracy theories not because of actual facts, but just because it validates their desire to feel special and different.
I think it is simply that the GOP has become downright incompetent. It is obvious that Pence would be better for the GOP than Trump, and yet in 17 months they still haven’t replaced Trump yet.
They’ve hitched their wagon to the tiger of Trump’s base. Or some equally grotesquely mixed metaphor. The point being that they’re scared to death that if they alienate the Deplorables, they’ll lose in November. Any November, at this point.
(Tin foil hat alert!)
I wonder if they’re waiting for January? If they get rid of Trump 2 years and 1 day after his inauguration then they could have 10 years of Pence.
I agree. The discourse on these boards is appalling, outrageous, and so absurdly over the top. If you don’t like Trump, then that’s great, but these Nazi comparisons are absolutely ridiculous.
And the hatred spills over into everything. I’ll bet if I started a thread on model airplanes, someone would throw a jab at Trump in there by post 15.
Find us a quote from Il Douche about model airplanes, and even money its a lie.
I am of Jewish, Greek, Italian, and Baltic ancestry and I have actual family members who were killed in the Holocaust in multiple European countries. And I am sick of the Holocaust comparisons.
Why isn’t it possible for people to criticize things they disagree with, without invoking Nazis? My Facebook feed has been BLOWING UP with pictures of starved Jews in Auschwitz, boxcars, barbed wire fences from the Holocaust, pictures of Hitler and Goebbels, side by side with pictures of the border situation and full-on equating the two as if they are exactly the same thing. It really bothers me. I have family members who were killed by Nazis. Virtually everyone in America, if you include combat deaths and prisoners of war, has family members who were killed by the Nazis. It upsets me that there’s like, no middle ground anymore between “good” and “Nazis.” I ask again, why isn’t it possible for people to criticize this border policy without comparing it to Nazis?
