Why so many liberals here?

This is a serious question, but one where a factual answer likely does not exist. According to Gallup, as of 2010 conservatives were (and have been) the largest ideological group in the US. 42% of adults surveyed identified as conservative or very conservative, 35% as moderate and only 20% as liberal or very liberal.

Simplistic. They’re just polling for the popularity of the words. For a better picture, see the Pew Political Typology, 2011.

And the entire mod staff is Liberal; oh, the difference a capitalized letter makes.

A definition of “liberal” might help; here in Canada, I’m a big ole’ conservative, but by US American standards, I’m a bleeding-heart liberal.

The same is true in the UK, our Conservative party while right wing by our standards is still pretty liberal compared to even the Democrats in the US.

Luckily I live here as if I lived the the US I’d probably be labelled a “godless commie bastard” because of my atheistic and left leaning views.
