Why do you think an independent Louisiana would be any more to your liking than the United States? LA is a majority republican state, not libertarian. Take a look at the primary results: Santorum finished first, and Romney and Gingrich both beat Paul. The libertarian candidate got about 6% of the primary vote. The Republic of Louisiana wouldn’t be some bastion of economic freedom and liberty - it would be a socially conservative, evangelical theocracy.
