They did come to town (San Antonio) on a triple bill with Foreigner and Night Ranger. I still didn’t go see them, as I figured the bands were probably down to their original drummer. I heard that one of the bands didn’t have a single originating member (I think it was NR), and I’m sure that the “name” players have already left.
Sadly, Perry and Journey parted ways a few decades ago. Journey’s newest in a short line of frontmen is a Filipino dude who they hired after seeing a Youtube clip of him belting out Journey songs. Arpel sounds great and seems like a really nice kid, but alas he is not Steve Perry…though those of us pining for Perry’s return might be severely disappointed as Perry’s range has been severely compromised by age (he recently turned 60), lack of use, and a rumored habit of pot srmoking.
That Atari game was my first exposure to them. Other than the soundtrack and title, you’d never know it had anything to do with them. The hilarious thing is what the alien-looking creatures on the screen actually represent. I suspect the game wasn’t originally designed with Journey in mind.
You’ve just not heard the Atari version.
Literal Video Version of Separate Ways Video.
You’re welcome.
Actually, the chap’s name is Arnel Pineda.
