Why The Skull Motif?

I was just at a local business, and the young man who attended me was very nattily attired-with a shull emblazoned T-shirt, shull bandann, he was also wearing a skull ring, and a skull emblazoned belt buckle. All of which made me wonder, as i have seen the skull motif on all manner of clothing (including bikinis). Are these kids obsessed with death? Are we seeing a revival of the medieval “momento mori”? Take a look at a lot of early renaissance art-many pictures include a skull.
Or is this just morbid?

He’s a pirate, duh!

Skulls are cool! [/Beavis]

I have a skull.

I have a chemise top that always gets double-takes and smiles when people see me wearing it. It’s a black ribbed cotton with bits of red lace on the top edge and little red bows where the straps connect.

In the middle of the shirt is a white skull with a black bow with red cherries on top. The eye sockets are heart shaped.

Dunno why, but I fell in love with that shirt when I found it, bought it on the spot, and everyone else who’s seen it loves it.

Sounds like the kid’s going a little overboard, though.
