Why "True Scotsmen" don't wear underpants

With kilts, that is. The reason given is “tradition”, but it’s hard to understand anyway.

If no one sees what’s under the kilt, then no one knows whether you’re wearing underpants or not.

And if someone does get a glimpse under there, well then that’s exactly why you would want to wear them.

My friends in the SCA say the old scots used to “gird up their loins” with the long tails of the shirts. But not true separate underwear. However, the balls wouldnt swing low…

The breeze is the reason for the wearing of the kilt. Underpants are contraindicated.
