My guess is she found value in the community and/or the members here, and wanted to be part of it, but also wanted to escape past emotional baggage. I don’t know if she mailed an Admin or not, but she possibly could have had a new user account entirely if she had asked in advance. Especially as she was a long-term poster who had a good record of obeying the rules and generally being a good netizen.
Perhaps she can make an appeal to the Admins and see what can be done.
It sure as hell is. She took their generosity in allowing her to remain and change her username, despite breaking a rule which has gotten many people banned previously, and rubbed it in their faces. That deserves both a banning and a hearty “Fuck you, bitch.” Sorry.
I’m presuming that the board software doesn’t automatically check for duplicate IP addresses, so I’d like to know who the life-deprived loser was who felt the need to report this.
Does anyone really care what happened on an anonymous message board six years ago? I guess.
Yes, but also keep in mind the tone of my post. It was not angry or anything. It was more disappointed. If I’m angry with anyone it is** fatgail**, for acting in such a clumsy manner.
Well thank goodness I have you here to tell me what I think is offensive or not. Some of us are not as emotionally invested in this messageboard as you apparently are.
I hate to stifle an active discussion, but given that we try to avoid letting socks get too much attention, I think it’s best that I close this. Feel free to start new threads on general board policy regarding socks or whatnot, although I’d ask that you couch the discussion in general terms and avoid the specifics of this instance if at all possible.
I know this thread is closed, but I felt the need to respond to your question. You’re correct–the board software has no ability to check for duplicate IPs. Your assumption that someone must have reported the Guest is incorrect. From the first, the mods/admins were quite interested in this person. While others may assume we’re stupid, this isn’t the case. It was just a matter of time. And, it was discovered by a mod, not by some poster in cyberland.
