Why was John Lennon assassinated?

Highlights from his biography:

Right. Because none of you, not a single one, has ever had a lying, deceptive, or dishonest SO. None of you!

Is it just me, or does this sound like a really bad “origins story” for a fourth-rate superhero? “I was once a normal man like you, until one day I dated a skanky ho, and the experience left me with powers far beyond those of a mere mortal!”

I am so glad I wan’t drinking anything when I read that.

I dated a skanky ho, and now I’m immune to skanky hos. Immune, I tell you.

I believe Chapman (and I, too, was not going to acknowledge his identity for many years, until I realized that was a futile gesture) has said that he does not believe he should ever be released. True remorse? I don’t know.

I speculate that’s a survival move on his part. He could live in prison and eat food and watch TV every day until he dies of natural causes, or get out of prison and be a dead man walking. Which would you choose?

It was Pete Best I tells ya.

I was a paralegal for about a year and a half, and one of my jobs was “intake”–doing the pre-interview with prospective clients who called or walked in off the street. One of the first things my boss told me was the “brown paper bag” rule: if anyone comes to you with a brown paper bag full of “important papers” related to their case, don’t take the case because they’re crazy. I didn’t believe him, but over the course of the job I saw three people come in with grocery bags full of “important papers”, and they were all three crazy.

I don’t know-wasn’t he up for parole in the last few years, and there was a big argument over whether or not he should be released?
