Why was Seven banned?

Indicated by starting a thread about the Snarkpit which may have been silly but was within the rules? Or by starting a thread to ask why that thread was closed? They felt he was thumbing his nose at the rules which reflects on their insecurity than on Seven.

How does any of that indicate a desire to be banned? Why would Seven volunteer to organise the old threads into something readable if he was opposed to this board?

Cite to Seven’s ban request?

I sort of doubt **Seven **wanted to be banned, but the fact is that even if he *did *want to be banned, a suspension would have been more appropriate for the minor crimes he committed. Is quoting people against the rules? Is quoting people in sigs against the rules?

swf42: against the rules.

Ok, one lone agree-er…

And he did not want to be banned.

And here, ladies and gentlemen, Shodan displays the sort of logic, insight and perception that have made his reputation here at the Dope what it is today.

In other words, cite?

Well, to be fair, it’s based partly on his posts on another messageboard, to which I won’t link. And the mod and somebody upthread have linked to some of the other indications.

If you want to play the cite-the-unciteable-or-I’ll-pitch-a-tantrum game, knock yourself out.

Shodan

Anyone spot any irony in this?

Seven has expressed his dissatisfaction with the current state of the SDMB on giraffeboards but never expressed a desire to be banned.

Mmmmmmm. Unless my memory fails, this part “I tend to be a bit more critical of many mod actions” is only valid in terms of your constant whinging on about posters whose politics annoy you, and your perception of leftist slant in banning. I wonder what the chances are this fellow isn’t of your political slant.

Regardless, starwars has it right.

Personally, I’m not sorry to see him go. He was a dumb fuck, and he reminded me of Lib around the time of that stupid “different town” post.

In so saying, quoting TD in his sig was hilarious.

Okay. I’ll see your ‘I can’t quote because he said it on a different board.’ and raise you one ‘that is complete and utter tripe.’ In no thread on GB, Domebo or elsewhere has Seven expressed a desire to get himself banned. In addition, he has expressed a very firm opinion that he would not look well on others intentionally getting themselves banned on his behalf. However, as you are a member at GB, I will happily start a thread there and accept any proof you have to offer. There are no linking restrictions there so you won’t have any difficulty presenting whatever the hell post it is you’re referring to.

Ding ding ding!! There’s the correct answer!

And Shodan, you’re just pissed because seven called you shitdan.

I believe this banning was unjustified, and should be reversed.

No, that was sailor. But they had similar motives.

Shodan

Shodan: Thread started. At your convenience, kindly provide the information requested or admit here that there is no such evidence. Or simply say nothing (as I believe you will). Either way, I wanted to give you the opportunity to prove you’re not really a dishonest trolling coward.

This is basically what I mean. I am not claiming he stated expressly that he wanted to be banned.

Shodan

My mistake then. Regardless of who said it, it was funny as hell. And accurate too!

Moderators:

There is a thread about Seven’s banning here. There is one in each of the splinter forums. There is one in the snarkpit. And from what I can gather, the closet thing to a “yes, good call, mods,” I could find was that Seven should have been suspended, maybe.

That is a lot of people saying you are wrong.

And I am one of them.

The Teeming Millions & Friends all agree on this point. You have overreacted. I advice reversing the decision, apologising, then pretending it never happened. Not that that will work, but it is your best shot.

Cheers.

Apparently, gathering is not your strong suit.

I think you’ll find that most of the Teeming Millions & Friends don’t really give a shit, incidentally.

So you interpret expression of dissatisfaction as a desire to be banned. Interesting.
