Why was the Hotwire Thread locked?

Ah damn. I’m not posting here to complain, just trying to follow the rules about where to post questions regarding administration of the Board. Please don’t take this as a flame, or even a complaint. Just a question.

The recent thread on how to hotwire a car, How do I hotwire a car?, was locked but no explanation, or locker’s identity was given. I was just wondering if the locker could kindly provide those two things, which are often (may I say, typically?) given when locking a thread.

I’m pretty sure I know why, but do not know for certain. I’m not that stupid, I hope.

Thanks in advance,
Una

I locked the thread.

I locked it because, although it is possible for there to be a legal reason to hotwire a car, that is not the primary reason.

I didn’t comment because I was so disappointed that so many of our usually sensible members bit, and I was too saddened to say anything.

Good call Manny… frick I work around automotive locking systems week in and out and knew better than to bit at that one.
You mods are doing a good job

OK, that’s fine by me. I just wondered why. All I posted about was how funny it was to see the horn starting the car. I’m sorry that I disappointed you, but please notice I did not post any specifics on how to do it. :frowning:

Dear Any Moderator or Admin

Kindly close this thread if you will. My question regarding moderation has been asked, and politely answered.

Um, not to cast aspersions on our wonderful mods but isn’t locking a thread but not deleting it AFTER full instructions, with addenda, have been posted rather, uh, pointless?

Yeah, it probably is, dropzone. But contrary to the believe of a few, we really hate deleting content.

If there were no legal use for hot-wiring, I probably would have made it go away.

And Anth, I did note that you provided no specifics. Thank you!

Closed at the OP’s request.
