When that post of mine in MPSIMS was closed at first, it didn't have an expl.- READ!!

When my post in MPSIMS about the ‘best 1,000th post ever’ was closed, and I posted in here asking why at first, it was b/c I saw the lock on it for the minute before the message appeared.

In the future, maybe there’s something better to do- Moderators, this is directed at you especially- than insult other user’s by linking to threads- especially threads like the other one in this forum, ATMB, in which I inquire about that thread in MPSIMS before the message of why that thread was locked appeared and I understood- that humiliate them? It was a misunderstanding- how about typing out the explanation of why a thread is locked in your post and then submitting it, then locking it, in the future, so people don’t spend a minute wondering if they check back on it?

Please leave this here, though, not in the Pit, b/c I am just telling the message board and not pitting the board for their actions.

And certainly I am at fault for not having read the sticky about post count celebrations. But it just irks me the way Mods get the final word in every thread, especially in the not-so-unusual instance that they are mistaken, such as in this instance.

And by ‘mistaken’ I refer to Moderator Giraffe’s closing thread in my other thread in this forum, which reads

It’s incorrect b/c he interprets what I say before that as meaning that I hadn’t yet read what the moderator who had closed my thread in MPSIMS had written yet, whereas what I’m saying happened was that I checked back up on it like every minute this morning (excitedly :D) and saw a lock on it, and came here to ask what was going on, worried.

With that ^^^ last post there, you get the last word, making me the fool and thus the thread was used against me in another thread today. That’s unfair. The entire practice of locking, then posting why should be changed.

Moderator’s Note: The Pit is for “all complaints and other discussion regarding administration of the SDMB”; ATMB is for “technical questions and concerns about the SDMB”. This thread is not about a technical question (“Why is the vBulletin software doing such-and-such?”); it’s about moderating decisions and practices.

So I’m moving this thread to the Pit.

I’m not going to say andrewdt85 is stupid, but that’s only because I can no longer hear his voice over the dueling banjos.

For those who try to explain his behavior by pointing to his age, don’t bother. That doesn’t explain anything because there are plenty of intelligent 20-year-olds capable of understanding a message board they have posted to for as long as he’s been here. There are posters younger than him who have made a better impression.

andrewdt85: You will shape up or you will get shipped out of here with nary a peep of protest from anyone else. It’s your money, you make the decision.

Please don’t bother tellins us. No one cares.

andrewdt85, please read this thread, in which you have been Pitted before you type and submit anymore of your wittering imbecility on any topic whatsoever. I’m sick of your constant stream of inane bullshit. The general consensus is that everyone is sick of your constant stream of inane bullshit. Nobody wants to hear what you have to say about anything anymore. For Christ’s sake, enough! Give your wanking hand a fucking rest!

Trust me, you don’t need the mods’ help to make you look like a fool.

Here’s a practical suggestion for you. Why not refresh a topic next time you see that it’s become closed on a forum index before posting a “Why was this closed?!” thread. You should have read the stickies in the forums before posting a topic in them. Cajun Man wasn’t being rude at all, he was showing you, via a link exactly why he was closing your thread, so you could soak in the knowledge and not make such a mistake again. Why don’t you read the other sticky threads in each forum with the various rules, so you can stop the self-flagulating slapstick routine you have going?

I didn’t say Cajun Man was being rude, I said that there was a misunderstanding because the CLOSED w/ the lock appears a minute before the post explaining why does. This is true, it does, doesn’t it, mods?

They close threads before tacking on the last post, to prevent them from continuing further while typing out their “I closed this because…” comment. Next time don’t be such a fiend on the refresh button.

It doesn’t matter, I suppose- there’s never a time in which a thread is closed w/o an explanation, is there, Mods? Are there any such times? I know that according to the rules you don’t technically have to have a reason for closing a thread, but have you ever closed one w/o typing anything along with it? (please don’t close this one w/o typing a description  now that I’ve said that)

Why don’t you take a bit of time to learn the culture and customs of this board so you don’t run afoul of them so much? Why sit there, and paint yourself to be a victim, while continuing to step on toes? There’s a saying that can apply here, and while it may be harsh, it’s apt. “Shit or get off the pot.”

Try something new: Shut the fuck up.

I have read this three times. I still have no idea what it means.

It depends. If we want to stop other replies before typing in a (sometimes lengthy) explanation as to why the thread was closed, we will lock it first to prevent more replies.

andrewdt85, I’m saying this as my own opinion, not as a warning – some patience and restraint would really behoove you.

Dude, SHUT THE FUCK UP. Stop posting so many fucking OPs. I know the “if you don’t like it don’t read it” argument and I agree with it. The problem is that you might have five different threads started on a page. I don’t read any of them because you are a stupid, boring, tiresome, uninteresting jackass. It’s still an issue because you are pushing more deserving threads off of the page. Would you please self regulate a little bit?

Say wha? Dude, you need to go on a hyphen diet ASAP. I can’t understand what the hell you’re saying.

For the love of the hamsters, can you just write everything in one post!?

Oops, I misread what you say, but your posts are a fine example of how not to write a composition.

At any rate, what I just posted refers to a your habit (at least from one post) from writing an incomplete first post, then follow up immediately with another post to ‘complete’ it.
