Why was there no outrage in the US over the bombings in Israel?

Was it because…“Thank God it wasn’t us?” Well now it is. Is this what it takes to wake us up? Am I the only one that thinks this is sad? Had this not happened would we have kept the same mindset? Lets hope the promise to crush those who do this is not just a promise that’s blowing in the wind.

I for one was outraged over the bombing incidents in Israel. However, this is not the general American mood. We tend to pass off international terrorism saying, “Not us, not here, that’s just not how it works.” But today America got a shocking wake-up call. These things DO happen here, and they CAN happen to you. The American people (including me) just can’t handle the fact that it could be you trapped in the rubble or jumping out of the building or stuck in a choking cloud of smoke or begging for mercy as your plane is hijacked. I was reading Carl Sagan’s “Cosmos” today. It shows a series of photos zooming in on various locations around the globe, seeing how far away from Earth you can see human intelligence. He mentions the unnatural geometry as you close in over cities. On one page is a false-color map of Washington with the Pentagon in the lower-left hand corner. On the opposite side of that page is a bird-eye view of Manhattan, with the Twin Towers rising prominently from the urban island. Hard to believe they were just like in the pictures yesterday. Hopefully this will awaken the US to what is happening overseas in the way of terrorism.

Very well said. One might think that if the bombings in Israel had reached the hearts of Americans this tragedy might not have happened.

Yeah, that’s right. It’s our fault.

I’m sorry. I’m stopping here before I say something I regret.

And I’m stopping this thread for the same reason. This is more of a BBQ Pit type of thread, but there are plenty of threads on this topic over there already, so I’ll just lock it off.
