Why would I vote for Bush? Because he is doing exactly what I want him to do. I’m not following his wishes, he is following mine. Simple as that.
Why do you (as a Belgian) concern yourself with American Politics?

My thoughts exactly. Mr.[?] Aldebaran apparently has illusions of grandeur. He obviously thinks you should answer to him.
Oh, and Aldebaran, sweetheart, sticky gum, to you.
And indeed. I should have known that the Flemish Block [Vlaams Blok] has in your view a useful function.

Even though they don’t like Maroccon people much, they are very anti-semitic, huh.
Believe me, darlin’ . I know a lot more about you, and local politics than you’d ever imagine.
Magiver,
Once again (audience, come and read): I am not “Belgian”. My mother came from Belgium. She married my father in the country of my father. Where they lived. Where I was born. Where they died and are burried. Where I live. Where my whole family lives, with exception of course of my family from mothers side. They live in Belgium and other countries in Europe. One actually in the USA at the moment but that is only temporarely.
(the persistency by which some people here clamp themselves to “the Belgian Story of Aldebaran” gives some explanation as to why people tend to select among what they read and forget about what is actually written. Next it shows how they take their selective reading for the whole content of what is actually written. This explains on its own a lot about the ability of the mass-media and the internet to indoctrinate the masses)
That “there” where I was born and live happens to be located not all that far frome the well known sovereign nation the Bush Maffia invaded and keeps occupied. That sovereign nation happens to be the land where someone I love very deeply still has relatives. That someone I talk about was not born in Iraq but that does not make all that much of a difference when you see the country of your ancestry invaded and destroyed and your family brought in life danger by a lunatical US president and his Maffia.
Even if I would not be who I am and not live where I live and not have any connection with that sovereign nation the Murdering Bush Maffia invaded, I still could be amazed and stunned by:
the fact that those who want to vote for Bush don’t seem to have any problem with everything we know about his lying fairy tales selling this whole Iraq invasion to them. They have no problem that this man is directly responsible for the the deaths of thousands and thousands of innocent people and for the wounding and maiming of even a lot more.
the other questions I asked in this thread.
Even when all the above would not apply, as a member of this website I am allowed to post whatever I want to post as long as I stay within the rules of the forums.
If you have a problem with that… That is not my problem.

gum, ga met je poppen spelen. Stay out of my thread with your stupid “cleverness” orr go stalk someone else.
By the way: het Vlaams Blok never made any anti-Jewish statement.
You have no clue what I talk about.

Overlooked something…
Moderator, shouldn’t I report that as forming a threat? I’ve seen crazier things happen on this website by people who saw “threats” in some of my posts.

What he said.
At this point in the game, with all the scandals and lies and misstatements and problems, the only people who are voting for Bush come November are those whose primary concern is what party affiliation the guy is with. They don’t realize that “My candidate, right or wrong” is a stupid way to vote…
Why shouldn’t he? Americans don’t have a problem concerning themselves with foreign politics, after all.
Why don’t you go ask Sam Stone (a Canadian) why he concerns himself with American politics, while you’re at it?
rjung,
Does that not bring a problem of the whole system to the surface?
Namely the fact that only 2 political parties have the power to get their Golded One elected.
I would think that with a multiple and equally strong party-system less people would still be inclined to vote for Bush because Kerry is “the wrong party/program” or is “not what they see in a future president”.

Why should you (as an American) concern yourself with Iraqi politics? Or Spanish? Or French? Or Russian? Or Chinese? Or, 15 years ago, Soviet?
The main difference here is this - a Belgian has a right to be concerned about American politics when America is a lone superpower that behaves like a rogue nation, throws away decades of international alliances, organizations, and buildup, invades countries seemingly at random, and makes vague threats about anyone who dares to disagree. I would be concerned, as well.
We live in a world community, not AmericaLand. Our actions are not contained - they are part of a symbiotic system, and everything we do sends shockwaves across the world. Additionally, America has a whole clique of follower-nations where we’ve installed friendly governments, and what we do, they follow, so America withdrawing from the ICC has a very, very great effect on the world community, and as a foreigner, I would spit on Bush’s feet just for that. As an American, I want to (censored for me not getting arrested purposes) and put it on a stake.

Help me understand here. Articulate who this greater enemy might be. Last time I checked “left wingnut” posters are not running the country. War-seeking cowboys are. This War on Terror that you yourself call a total fuck up has cost hundreds of lives, has deemphasized the importance of our civil liberties through the Patriot Act, has sullied our international credibility, has made our leaders look like clueless negligent gullible tinkletwats at best, and has left us and at least another country more vunerable to terrorism than to begin with. Amidst all of this, we have a frighteningly large percentage of the American public believing that to fight Al Queda all we simply need to do is escalate the fighting in Iraq, and this ignorant view has been insiduously and deliberately perpetuated by the current administration. Billions of dollars are being dispensed into a project that has its key players making shit up as they go along, with no preparations or realistic expectations (“we will be greeted with candies and flowers”) to lead the way. And now that the Abu Gharib allegations are surfacing, the WOT has further kicked us and our reputation and everything that we should be standing for in the knees.
So tell me. What are the domestic issues that come anywhere near the importance of this little ole thing called war?
Well, if I was Belgian for 100% I surely would have the same questions and the same feeling for the Lunatical Arrogant Bush and his Maffia.
Every normal reasoning person should have them and in fact I hear a lot of that coming from my family and friends. In Belgium and the rest of Europe. They all have their deep disgust for this US government and its actions and lies and whatever and disbelief for what the US people swallow from them.
And those people are
I find the remark “what do you comment on US policies” really rich when coming from someone who seems to support a mass murdering invader of a sovereign nation. The same one who propagated that mixing with that sovereign nation’s policy - and KILLING its president - was one of his “reasons” to start bombing and killing thousands of its citizens.
But it is really no use to point out their unbelievable hypocrisy and arrogance to such people.

Unregistered US voters … the Democrats, Republicans and US political pollsters don’t even give a diddle about their opinions. Now why in the hell would I care about some foreigner’s opinion? They should worry about their own backyards …
I think there were in the recent past a few reminders why you should care about the world’s opinion about the USA.
Salaam. A
I don’t remember the world opining about any US political presidential election. If they did, who gives a crap. You appear to be an unregistered US voter … your opinion is meaningless.
Dude, it’s a message board. I don’t see what’s so wrong about someone taking an interest in US politics, any more than Americans taking an interest in, say, Japanese culture. Especially when US politics can and do affect people outside our borders.
Dude, if you are not a registered US voter, you are just passing wind. Check it out, as stated previously, with either US political party or political pollsters. Nobody really cares, especially, about a foreigner’s opinion concerning a US political election
Yeah, because if enough foreigners get miffed about US policies there’s absolutely nothing they can do about it?
Lose the attitude.
Absolutely correct, they are not part of the US political process. Good point!
Indeed, and to amplify this…Some of us who hardly agree with anything Sam Stone writes concerning American politics have nonetheless defended his right to express it here (although I have gotten a little annoyed when his posted have borne a remarkable resemblance to RNC talking points, without being referenced as such).
For the record, just in case: the recession began in March 2001.
