Interestingly, I have A Boy and His Dog, A Clockwork Orange, The Kingdom, Freaks, The Forbidden Zone, and Greaser’s Palace in my collection.
I don’t think the first two are particularly weird or disturbing, really. The Kingdom starts out very slowly, but my jaw was hanging open and I was on the edge of my chair (literally, in both cases) for the last scene. The last shot of the last scene was “Oh, my gawd! Oh! Oh! When is The Kingdom II coming out?” (Still haven’t seen it.) I can’t think about Sweden or Denmark without thinking of Stig shouting, “Danish scum!”
Freaks: The pinheads are disturbing to me for some reason. They just creep me out. But I didn’t find the film itself weird or disturbing.
For a long time I thought The Forbidden Zone was the weirdest film I’ve ever seen (it also happens to be one of my favourite films). But now I’ll have to say Greaser’s Palace is the weirdest. (TubaDiva made me get rid of my “Bingo Gas Station Motel Cheeseburger With A Side Of Airplane Noise And You’ll Be Gary, Indiana” signature.) I keep waiting for a poster to register as Ugly Ol’ Hiney Ho and for her to come say hello.
How 'bout the Who’s Tommy? Although I must admit I haven’t seen most of the movies listed thus far, surely a woman swimming in a pool of chocolate sauce gushing from the television qualifies this movie to be one of the most bizarre ever.
Does anybody besides me think the concept for this movie was, well, stolen from Stephen King’s “The Drawing of the Three” (book 2 of the Dark Tower)?
To be fair, I haven’t seen the movie, but the whole idea seems like a rip off.
If you think Tommy was weird then it’s only because you haven’t seen Lisztomania (which has the same director and a similar cast). It makes Tommy look like a Merchant-Ivory production. I believe Lisztomania was actually marketed as being a movie that “Out Tommy-s Tommy”.
Just to mention, A Boy and his Dog can be seen on the web at http://tesla.liketelevision.com .
301, 302 is a Korean movie that disturbed me when I saw it. If you enjoyed ABahD, you really should try to see this one…
I would also like to reccomend The Castle, a film based on a story by Franz Kafka.
A Clockwork Orange is one of my favorite movies, although I never got the title, maybe if I’d read the book …
Anyway, Eraserhead is the first movie to come to mind in the ‘Weird’ category.
But I’m surprised noone has mentioned David Lynch’s ‘Blue Velvet’. Whats even more disturbing, according to a review was that Dennis Hopper, while urging to be cast
as the part of the most sleazy, depraved villians of this or most any movies, exclaimed “I AM Frank!”
As a side-note I have the screenplay to this and several movies in .txt format - email buzzdoctor@yahoo.com
and I’ll send it to you.
Peace

I’ve never seen it, but I’ve heard that the Jack Nicholson written, The Monkey’s starring Heads is pretty damn weird.
And another movie that’s really weird is a French film called The City of Lost Children. You can rent it on DVD and therefore have it translated. That’s a very surreal movie. The plot outline is a mad scientist kidnaps children to steal their dreams because he thinks it might slow his aging process.
The Holy Mountain was a pretty weird one. The guy with milk-squirting jaguars sticking out of his breasts is one image I won’t soon forget.
btw, brother rat, the Japanese penis movie your mother mentioned is probably Ai no Corrida, which is finally being released in Japan after being banned here for 25 years. It was released in America as In the Realm of the Senses.
–sublight.
Cube (The Cube?) freaked me out when I first saw it.
Lamia, have you seen Russell’s take on Salome’s Last Dance?
I’m surprised no one has mention Naked Lunch yet.
MentionED, i mean. Bah.
Ken Russell is being mentioned a lot. Here’s my favourite: Lair of the White Worm. Asurdist, horror-comedy at its finest.
Hodge
Naked Lunch! Damn! Forgot about that one. Nothing like shooting up a little bug poison …

I can thing of at least two things wrong with that title.
The Doom Generation. Teenage couple on the run. They pick up a drifter who masterbates to them having sex & licks the come off his hands. Every confrontation results in someone losing a body part. Every purchase they make totals $6.66. Blatant homophobic subtext.
Widely cited as one of the worst movies of all time – yet another plus.
Mystery Train. Seen it several times, still have no idea what the hell is going on.
The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover. More gross than weird.
J.E.T.
I’m surprised no one has mention Naked Lunch yet.
If you think the movie is weird, read the book!
Although I already have The Kingdom on VHS, today I ordered it on DVD. I also ordered The Kingdom II on DVD. Both of these are out of print, but Scarecrow Video in Seattle, WA has them.
I liked Cube. It was good, so it only lasted a very short time in theatres.
Forgot to mention another weird one: The Cell with Jennifer Lopez. That is one messed up movie. I think that movie should win an Academy Award for best set design.
Being John Malkovich. I haven’t read the Stephen King book, but I’m sure that BJM is an original. The writers always pull up some new trick when you’re least expecting it.
And what about Brazil?
