I’ve marked the location, but they never seem to come back in the same spot, and certainly don’t expand.
It’s late in the season and they are mostly dead by now, but our back yard gets California poppies every spring, always in new locations. They are a pain in the butt to remove later but also too pretty to take out before/during the blooming season. They also attract the butterflies we like.
(a) I am properly jealous
(b) it’s the right time of year (coming up) for Autumn Ladies’ Tresses - I now have the urge to go out and say hello to some, but I’m scratching my head trying to remember where they grow around here.
