Wild Rumpus at the White House!

WARNING: Sugar sweet fluffiness that will cause diabetes!

Lots (and lots and lots) of pictures of the White House Easter Egg Roll. I especially love the pictures of President Obama speaking into the bunny’s ear, and him reading Where the Wild Things Are. I can’t wait for the video.

Oooh, lots and lots and lots more pictures.
Story with interesting tidbits (scroll down) such as that all the books read at the Storytime Stage were checked out of the local DC library.

I guess it was streamed live but I didn’t realize it at the time.

Even more fluffy:

Easter Egg Roll fashions (the adorable little girl with red hair wins best dressed).

Michelle’s Easter Sunday outfit from yesterday.

Got a little bit of video, though still none with the WTWTA reading.

Wow. This morning I was feeling a bit of Obama overload (too many doggy stories in the Post, perhaps), but the photos in the first link remind me of how totally awesome he is with kids…love the shots where he’s hoisting the kid to make the basket and cheering on the little redhaired girl!

Video of President Obama reading Where The Wild Things Are:

I know, kids just love him like crazy!

Yep! If you watch that video link I posted right before you, you’ll see that she was really upset because she was behind everyone else, so that’s when he jumped in to cheer her on. She was crying at the end, but I’m sure he made her feel better.
Edit to add, THANK YOU drastic_quench!

i’ll bet it is his favourite day in office so far.

goodness, he has picked up quite a bit of grey hair already.

I agree, probably his best day yet in office. Very cool to see kids in residence at the White House again…brings a lot of smiles to a lot of faces.

Great pics, but did anyone else notice all the secret service? They were everywhere.

Looks like one of them lost a bet, maybe. He is in for a lot of ribbing back in the Secret Service locker room!

Here’s more video.

Edit to add another one, this one of Fergie singing the National Anthem.

yaaaay!!

Hate to bring you all down to earth, and I’m sure Obama likes kids a lot, but come on - this event is continued every year because it is guaranteed to show the president in a positive light.

Much as I’m a Reagan fan - I can’t say he was particularly good with kids. Yet the pictures that came out of the Easter Egg rolls were nice - just as they are with all presidents.

Link.

Link.

I got my fill of sugar yesterday, thanks.

Of course it is, you’re absolutely right, but it doesn’t negate what I said. Kids love him.

This one is my very favorite. I loved it so much I put it into the video I made (warning, video will give right-wingers the heebie jeebies).

Who’s the older lady in some of the photos, Michelle’s mom? She looks sort of like her.

Yes, that’s Marion Robinson, Michelle’s mom.

I may just be having a flashback, but did the rabbit make anyone else think of ‘Magical Mystery Tour’?

There’s a big goofy rabbit in Magical Mystery Tour? I’ve never seen MMT so a no from me.

Yes, he seems to be playing lead guitar in this photo. All in all, he’s looking quite good despite the 40-odd years…

They went out of their way to get LGBT families to the event. Between that and getting books from the public library, I’m impressed.

Also, I think I want to be Michelle Obama when I grow up. Is there an item of clothing in the world that she does not look absolutely stunning in?

the secret service cracked me up. everyone else having fun and enjoying themselves and laughing. they are so serious and on guard as they should be, they just look so very out of place. i hope they had their own secret service games after everyone left.

It’s hard to believe Malia’s only ten(ish). She’s going to be fashion-model-tall in just a few years.

Great looking family and great family photos. It looks like the children all had a blast.

You know, somehow I doubt that.
