So, UFOs are some weird cultural phenomenon. When I say “UFO,” I mean those flying objects that are specifically of the archetypal disk-like, “flying saucer” shape. If UFOs really are alien spacecraft from outside the solar system, then they must have a physically possible propulsion mechanism. They cannot be remote controlled because the nearest star is 4.2 light years away, and a command from the home planet would involve an unacceptable time lag.
We know from the laws of rocket propulsion that mass must be expelled from a rocket in order to change the velocity of the rocket. But since the UFO’s interior and exterior are separated by a closed disk structure so that mass cannot be expelled from the interior to the exterior, we know that the UFO cannot function via a rocket mechanism. (And if UFOs were rockets, or used rocket propulsion technology, I’m pretty sure UFO enthusiasts would all be on the side of the hypothesis that they are either Soviet or U.S. military craft, i.e. surveillance and spying vehicles).
Is there any reason why UFOs would be disk-like in shape, if an alien from another solar system was using it to visit us? I tried to look at the distinctive disk-like shape as not a particular design quirk or aesthetic fashion, but as an observation that demands the answering of a particular question, namely:
Assuming the UFO’s interior is hollow, and that the exterior of the UFO is a shell that surrounds that hollow interior, what type of machine, tool, object, etc. “housed” in the interior of the UFO would require (or at least be structurally consistent with) the exterior enclosing shell to have/having a disk-like shape?
A thought came to my mind: a rotary device, namely, a propeller. If the interior hollow space contained only a propeller, and was a vacuum otherwise, the propeller obviously wouldn’t work since there would be no fluid (gas or liquid) to generate lift/thrust a combination of the two against. In the atmosphere, we are used to using the air around us as the medium by which work is done on a rotating blade on a helicopter. But what if a UFO is nothing but a spacecraft whose propulsion mechanism is akin to that of a helicopter save for the key distinction that ***the UFO carries its own air supply (some mixture of gases) with it in order to simulate a local environment within its enclosing disk that allows a rotary device inside the disk to generate net forces independent of whether its external environment outside the closed disk has air, a medium, etc, just as a rocket carries its own fuel supply (again, some mixture of gases) to generate net forces? ***
I have two points of circumstantial evidence to support my claim:
-The reports of UFOs and their range of motion is uncannily similar (being able to change direction quickly, flying in all directions, hovering) to the range of motion of a helicopter, which can do all of the mentioned. The hovering is, I believe, the key observation.
-Generally, the “crew quarters” with the windows are on the top of the disk in the UFO, and the helicopter’s cabin is located below the helicopter’s rotor. If we made our helicopters’ cabins above the rotor instead, and envisioned an imaginary disk cut out by the blade through the air, that would look remarkably similar to the UFO I have proposed, with the exception of the solid enclosing shell.
Should I go see a shrink, or is this notion of a “disk-like exterior might just very well be designed so because it contains a disk-like region that is swept through by a propeller blade” plausible?
