I found an Alberta ID on the ground by my house and it kinda looks like me. But in Alberta they scan IDs at the bar, so will barcode still scan at a club if the person reported it lost? Does the ID connect to a database that tells them it is lost or does it just read the information on the card so that the computers have a digital copy of it?
I don’t know if you can scam your way into a bar with the ID you found in Alberta.
However, I can say that the IDs in the States absolutely will pass the cursory inspections bars perform. First of all, in the USA, the scanner is offline. It merely reads the magnetic stripe on the ID and puts on the display the birth data recorded into the strip itself. There is no online verification from the state.
Second of all, even if there were online verification, this ID you “found” has a valid number. It probably would pass.
With all that said, bars aren’t that much fun. I’ve been to plenty. You should instead get a friend to get you and your other underage buddies some alcohol and have a private party. Much better chance of getting laid in that kind of scenario than trying your luck at a bar.
