I’m worried about the state of the world regarding Sharia Law. Will the United States eventually be submitted to Sharia Law? The extreme liberals are so afraid of offending them that they let some U.S. courts consider it. The Muslims are very cunning and coy. They know how to play the I just want my religious freedom card. I wonder if in 20-30 years the women will be wearing berkas and jahibs (not sure of the spelling but it’s the head and face covering). America needs to wake up! If U.S. women are as liberated as they say they are, they will have no rights if this law is passed. They’ll submit to the men. What do all of you think? Will if be in our lifetime in the next 20-30 years or (cringe) sooner like 10-12?

I would recommend that the OP consult demographic data regarding religion in the US and extrapolate at what point followers of Islam would be anywhere close to a majority. Last time I checked it was well outside his postulated time-frame for mandatory burqas.

Our current legal structure recognizes all Religious Laws in some cases. When there is a dispute that has a Religious Legal precedent, our courts defer to that precedent as long as it doesnt violate our laws. There was a case in FL where the Judge pushed the case back to the Church to rule (I dont have the link)

Are you sure? Your thread title says Arabs and your questions about about Muslims. Both are very small minorities in the U.S.

Uh, no. Shari`a courts can make extra-legal decisions about certain matters of religious doctrines for members of Muslim communities who agree to abide by such decisions.
Just as rabbinical courts in the US can make decisions according to Jewish religious law about dietary law compliance, divorce, and other matters for Jews who follow such laws. And councils of elders in Christian churches can resolve disputes among their congregations, etc.
But none of these extra-legal arbitration systems is going to be officially adopted in place of actual US law, nor are they going to be applied to people of different faiths against their will.
My advice to you would be to visit a local moderate mosque or Islamic culture center and ask some people there for some information about their beliefs and practices. There are some scary extremist Muslims out there, but the vast majority of Muslims in the US are not scary or extremist and have no interest in trying to force their beliefs on anybody else.
By the way, the words you’re thinking of are “burqa” for the long body-covering garment with a face veil, and “hijab” for the headscarf that covers the hair but not the face.
As it happens, I work with an Iranian Muslim woman who wears a hijab. She’s very nice and not scary at all. Nor is she opposed to equal rights for women. If you actually get to know some normal Muslims, I think you’ll find that your fears are exaggerated.

On Edit: I’ll give you a hint. There are more Jehovah’s Witnesses than Muslims. There are WAY more Mormons than Muslims (as in roughly 3 times as many). There are more Buddhists than Muslims. Islam is a very, very small minority in the US and has absolutely no political power from which to “take over” the United States.
Specifically I think there are two or three million Arabs and a few million Muslims more than that. Estimates vary for both and I assume estimates from groups like the The Arab American Institute are going to skew a little high. And most Arab-Americans are Christians, not Muslims. Say there are maybe five or six million Muslims. In a country with more than 310 million people, that’s a few less than you need to take over.
