I’m not sure that Gaga has matched Madonna’s worldwide recognition yet. Also I’ve found Oprah Winfrey to rank surprisingly high even among non-Anglophones.
I really don’t think that Sarah Palin is more famous worldwide than Gaga.
But what about Octomom?
Madonna and Oprah look down on Gaga from a huge distance, I think. We have to remember the older generations who are likely to have heard of Madonna and Oprah, but wouldn’t know Lady Gaga from the next current singer.
Of course this is all keepin in mind that the Octomom beats them all.

And if you think anyone outside of the US even thinks about octomom… you’re right! We all have little shrines to the shining example of (faux) fertility that she is. Why, all we want are familys of 18, like how every Chinese family used be in the last 2 decades. Ayup. la, la, Octomom.
Shrug, I really don’t know. I listed her under “probably” because all of my international friends know her, while a lot of my (American) family members wouldn’t know Lady Gaga from Jimmy Joe Bumbletits.

I would think Madonna, Oprah, Hilary, maybe still Diana, all would be known to more people worldwide than LGG. No cite to back that up though.
I think Lady Di is fading, at least outside of the North America/Europe/Australia axis. She just doesn’t come up anymore in most places, and it’s going on a whole generation now that she’s been dead.
I don’t mean to quibble over details – Oprah and the Queen are clearly two of the most well-known women in the world – but am I deluded in thinking there’s an enormous gulf between the level of fame enjoyed by Lady Gaga and that of “Octomom”? Am I just that out of touch? I’ll admit I rarely watch TV.
Can we please stop talking about OctoMom? Seriously, the thought of her makes my vagina cringe, and she looks really creepy.
If anyone in Thailand has ever heard of Octomom, they forgot it a long time ago. This thread was my first inkling of her. I thought at first it must be a band! Lady Gaga’s songs, on the other hand, receive wide play over here.

As far as I’m concerned all magazine covers get spruced up with photoshop.
I guess I just don’t know why she, a beautiful woman on a magazine cover, is labeled “naturally beautiful” as opposed to other, presumably unnaturally beautiful women on other covers.
Well, she had cosmetic surgery, on like the second season, I believe. A doctor donated I believe a stomach reconstruction, and a breast lift, if not a boob job… so she’s not entirely natural either.
