I just saw the presidential inauguration thread, and wonder what Dopers may think about this.
My vote is that he will, but reluctantly.

It would be the classy thing to do. Let’s see if he has such class.
I think Pence would definitely attend, unless Trump manages to bully his whole administration into boycotting.
And what’s Trump going to do? Fire him? They’re both out of a job at noon that day.
Who knows? Some GOP-wide Biden-boycott? These are strange times.
Anyway, I think Pence is a normal enough person to attend the ceremony graciously. We’ll see if his boss is and I doubt that.
Nitpick. Harris’ inauguration will also be Biden’s inauguration. Same ceremony. Harris takes her oath first, followed immediately by Biden.
I think he’ll show up. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if he winds up doing everything the outgoing President would do on Inauguration Day - hosting the new President for tea, riding along to the ceremony, etc.
I feel he will. Pence still has a potential political future.
That’s too bad.
Actually, that’s appalling.
Like it or not, he will be the most recent Republican Vice President in 2024. Which will make him a default front runner unless he announces he is not seeking the nomination.
And I hope he repeatedly crosses paths with fellow Indianan Pete Buttigieg, just because Pete is gay.
Pence probably dreads running into Dan Quayle back in Indiana and having to listen to those complaints once again about how “I peaked too early”.
Does anybody actually care?
You can’t afford to not care about politics. It affects your life whether you like it or not.
One of the main functions of the SDMB is to provide space to discuss in mind-boggling, bleary-eyed depth topics that most people don’t give a rat’s ass about. But a few do. For a little while, or a long while.
As for whether Mikey will attend the inauguration, sadly, this country is going to be a very different place two months from today (Nov 10). Last week, Mikey attending would have been the normal thing to do. By mid-January, it might be seen by Republicans as the equivalent of wearing a Hitler costume to a bar mitzvah.
Or, I suppose, the opposite could happen. Civility might have made a weak come-back and every commonplace gesture might no longer be seen as a life-and-death test of loyalty. This scenario seems unlikely to me, but a girl can dream…
BTW, when was the last time anyone saw Mikey??
I hope he attends, and I hope he brings the fly.
One week after Election Day, Vice President Mike Pence appears ready to take some time off.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, Pence is set to visit Sanibel from Tuesday through Saturday. Pence has vacationed before, as vice president and as governor of Indiana, on the island off Fort Myers along Florida’s Gulf Coast. He has attended services before at Sanibel Community Church
Pence’s office didn’t immediately comment Monday on the visit.
…
Where he will continue weeping quietly into Mother’s lap. And thinking twice about coming back to Washington.
Sir, you were not given a plus one…
“Sorry. Mike, you can go home.”
“Pence, Pence, Hmmm, P,E,N,C,E, no, I don’t see a Pence on my list.”
I think he will. He is classy, unlike Trump. The guy still respects political norms; he’s a boilerplate Republican.
