Will Rap/Hip Hop ever go stale?

I’ve got nothing online. My failed rock career was in the days before the internet.

I don’t know how to work a digital camera (I’ve never owned one), and I don’t know how to upload anything to the internet. I don’t think I can exaggerate how computer iliterate I am (or how shitty my computer is. I’ve got an old HP with a Celeron processor. I can barely even play youtube videos on it, much less upload anything).

You also haven’t told me where I’m supposed to get the backing music. I know you think you’re calling my bluff, but you’re doing it in a way in which I have no way to response even if I wanted to. I don’t know how to make and upload a video to the internet. Sorry. I’m old. I didn’t even know how to do email until 2002.

No need for backing music- some of the best raps I’ve ever heard have been a capella. You’d just carry on with the rhythm; Eminem does this all the time on his satellite radio channel. If a crappy commercial rapper can do it, anybody can, me thinks.

Where is the talent then? Can only talented people steal samples from other musicians, or does the talent lie in talking fast?

I used to do some speed metal songs that were basically just rapping over lickety-split guitar riffs. Is doing a Busta Rhymes song any harder than doing a Slayer song? And I did the Slayer songs while actually playing my own instrument.

I was pretty excited to see that you had, Hades. I kind of liked the idea of repeatedly linking to her while the, er, stodgier elements kept on about what all rap is like.

And here’s another ghetto gangsta blast talking aboutnot anything that anybody around here is interested in.

edit:no talent here. Move along to something interesting.

Hasn’t all pop music gotten stale?

When was the last significant innovative form? Rap, Punk and New Wave go back to the 70’s, Reggae the 60’s (?) and rock is even older. What have we had since then? Techno? Grunge? Nothing major.

I would need a beat, at least, but the main problem remains that I don’t have any equipment to record or upload a video to the internet, and even if I did, I don’t have a clue how to do it. I’ve honestly never uploaded anything in my life. I don’t even think my computer could handle it.

Are you ignoring the a cappella rap I posted earlier? Why do you need backing music if some no-talent hack like Busta Rhymes doesn’t?

I haven’t clicked on any videos because it takes to long to load and play them on my computer and because I already know what they sound like anyway. They all sound the same.

Anyway, problem remains that I can’t upload anything. I don’t have a camera and I don’t know how to upload anything.

If you think hip-hop is “stealing samples” and “talking fast”, what can I say to you? You’ve made up your mind with a very narrow view of the genre, which is what leads me to believe that you really don’t know anything about it.

Lyric writing, production, flow, power, breath control, clever rhymes, beat creation, sampling for maximum effect, atmosphere, the ability to connect on a deep level with a huge audience, live performance, freestyling… there’s the talent. But you’ll probably dismiss this as “stealing samples and talking fast”, so whatever.

You don’t like hip-hop, and nobody is asking you to go out and buy a Jay-Z record. But if I decided I didn’t like rock music, it wouldn’t make it right for me to say there isn’t any talent involved. It’d kinda make me look silly and ignorant, right?

Listen, guys. I’ve seen a velvet painting of Elvis, I don’t see why you guys keep trying to drag me to the Getty to see that Monet guy. All paintings are terrible- I know because I saw one once.

Really? You know what a blind link sounds like? Are there no levels of intellectual dishonesty that you won’t sink to try to avoid admitting you’re wrong or don’t know what you’re talking about?

Congratulations. Another thread derailed.

Can you do me a favor? This’ll be fun.

Tell us what the videos we’ve posted are like. They all sound the same - characterize that sound.

edit again: here’s another. What will all these sound like?

It derailed the second he posted, as does every other thread he posts to does. c’est la vie.

I pretty much agree with Dio. But I also think KISS is one of the greatest bands ever. So there ya go.

I wanna play! Characterize this one, too!

Jay Z looks great with his hair grown out like that.

Isn’t rap (the vocal part, not the music) kind of like the same concept as Beat poetry?

It only takes one time trying to get with MIA and ending up in the sack with Bubba Sparxxx to realize the gravity of the “all rappers are the same” problem.

They all sound like rap. Duh. Some idiot chanting inanities over somebody else’s music.
