Will Schwarzenegger's campaign be hurt by his 1977 Oui interview?

It does his campaign is in trouble. I’ve seen some photos.

(No, I don’t remember where.)

Is there any reason to believe that Mr. Schwartzenegger has not been faithful to his marriage vows? Or does that merely stem from personal dislike, without a factual basis?

december:

Why call TSG a blog? What Bizaro World definitions of “blog” does it fit? Or is this merely an attempt to legitimize the real blogs by associating them with sites that are actually respected?

I’m wasn’t familiar with TSG. I see it includes only actual documents, not opinions, so it’s not a blog. I stand corrected.

There are quite a few reasons to believe that Arnold hasn’t been faithful, namely a number of his female movie co-stars.

I should jolly well hope so! the cite isn’t down to your usual level, is it ?
On the general point, doesn’t the kind of things Arnie got up to actually help out there in La La Land ?

Bogie, Enquirer accusations aside, is your belief that Arnold is unfaithful based solely on “look how hot his co-stars are”? Seems flimsy.

I’m not saying the guy doesn’t cheat, but your assumption that he does simply because he works with sexy women isn’t really…well…proof.

Hey now. La La Land is only Northern California.

Anyway, the reason why Arnie’s antics won’t be an issue is because… well… they’re not. Any scandal that was there has been in the public eye for decades… at worst, it’ll make an amusing skit for Conan O’Brien to lampoon.

And much like the Democrats who’ve insisted that Bill Clinton’s sexual peccadilloes are nobody’s business, but that Clarence Thomas’s are unforgivable.

So Arnold has admitted to being in a orgy and advisor Rob Lowe is on tape in a three way. The real question is what dirty little secret is Warren Buffet hiding?

My guess is the Oui stuff wuld not substantially hurt his campaign - as noted theose who would be driven ut by this are probably already upset by his other social views. Now if they can make an issue of the Gigi Goyette affair - allegations on British TV by the aforementioned Ms. Goyette of a long term on-again off-again affair that may have begun when she was 16 and he 28 - which would make it statutory rape in A, where it occurred. (as well as being marital infidelity) All of the tabloids are eating it up, apparently, and many blogs and some mainline sources are mentioning it.

Will these slightly racier allegations hurt his campaign. Hard to say, especially if Maria pulls the standard stand by your man routine. Also depends on how malicious the opposition gets - will Bustamente go dirty, Ueberroth try and unseat the main other Republican or the family values group lay into him - his past lends itself to mudslinging. President Clinton’s reputed infidelities didn’t kill him (although he didn’t have to face reelection after the Monica affair) and President George W. Bush’s “bygones” approach to his dug/alcohol history both seem to facor Arnold.

I now feel kind of cheap and dirty for contributing this post to this thread

Where is this “A” place you’re talking about? Alabama? Alaska? Arkansas? Antarctica?

in the ass, bob.

D’OH! :smack:

He is married but lives with his girlfriend. That’s not secret, but I was surprised when I heard it.

Bogie, I’m afraid you’ll have to do a little better then that if you wish to have your accusations of marital infidelity taken seriously. IOW, cite?

Don’t the media look a little stupid now. All this focus, and very few not the media care.

Yup, no one cares. That’s why we’re all talking about it.

Seriously, cap, it’s news. Lots of people care . . . even though it might not affect their votes.

Could you rephrase that in Standard English, please?

Also, isn’t it a delight to see the Republicans on the boot-licker neo-con sept of the party turn on any Republican who does not participate in their reactionary revels. Sooner or later you just knew that the Bush-Cheney-Rumsfelt types were going to turn on the moderates. It’s like watching a guppies eat their young.

This might hurt Arnold, but not with overall voters. It might hurt him on the right, and there’s where he needs to build support right now. The last thing Arnold needs is an emboldened Republican ‘base’ working to defeat him.

If this were a normal election where Arnold had to win a Republican primary, this would have ended his candidacy. But among the voting population, I don’t think this hurts him very much.

Actually, I hope it turns out that the moderate Pubbies beat the shit out of the Psychoreligious Right and show them that God’s place is the church, not the ballot.
