Dennis Miller on MNF is pretty bad. So is Fouts. Watching them strain to achieve chemistry (“How you doin, Dendu?”) is almost unbearable. I agree with Milo that he should stick to the wisecracks - his analysis sounds phoney and I can’t help thinking its all been written for him, as with all of his in-game comments.
I think the ultimate problem with MNF is that they try too hard. Every element of the show feels over-produced, from the lame intros from commercials (Like the ‘anything you can do I can do better’ intro comparing eddie george and jerome bettis during the game a couple weeks ago) to the totally useless sideline commentary from Dickerson and Starks.
I really like the sunday night Espn commentators. They tell it like it is, aren’t afraid to point out their own mistakes, and have at least a small amount of chemistry working.
