If you have another member that you have developed an emotional relationship with (e.g. deep friendship, romantic crush, extreme hatred, identity curiosity, etc.) I would suggest that you reach out to them via private messaging, and provide them with your personal contact info. mobile number, personal email address, USPS physical mailing address, etc. and see if they reciprocate. If so, you can then take that relationship beyond the virtual walls of the SDMB, and remove future liability that may be created from your future interaction from the board itself.
What does that have to do with anything?!
Get your own contact info. and do with it as you wish.
You’ve taken that out of context. The suggestion was solely about contacting someone via their registered email address on the board. There was no suggestion about doxxing people or encouraging people to do it to themselves.
Nor was there any suggestion of doxxing by me. I don’t want anyone from this board contacting me. But if you develop relationships with people such that you have become concerned about their well being, then maybe you should have reached out to them for their contact info. yourself.
Due to…
?!
I’m trying to understand your point here. Especially including a story about a guy who burned another person’s trailer following an online feud.
I must be missing something.
There are lot of reasons why someone may want to get the contact info of another person, here or otherwise. That’s all. And another reason the board shouldn’t be involved in contacting members directly.
