Will the new dual layer burnable DVDs work with most home console DVD players?

Just curious. Will most home console DVD players play a burned dual layer DVD or not?

That’s hard to say. I suspect most home DVD players aren’t that new and the older the player, the more likely it is that it won’t play them.

Here is a list of compatible players:

Have fun!

Dual-layer compatibility, even among drives capable of reading DL, is still a big problem.

A bit of a nitpick: You’ve set the search terms for players that are compatible with DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL, which is a little restrictive. (124 returns.)

If you just search for DVD+R DL, you’ll get 582 models that are verified as compatible – that’s 70% of those tested. 47% of those tested for it support DVD-R DL, although only 300 were even tested with DVD-R DL.
