And again I’ll suggest that if Members knowingly abuse the Edit function, you simply ban them and move on. Simple, fast, and it punishes only the people who need the punishment. Make it a serious enough that it’s a “no warning” ban, and eventually even the dumbest will get the message (or get weeded out; either way it’s a win).
It’s a pain in the ascii for the mods and admins, especially when people are pancaking around being motherpancaking pancakers and pancaking all over everything.
but they could make it a few months and make that an auto-cutoff to discern necro posts from non necro posts.
but editing = pain in the ascii for mods. Much more work and nose wiping of the few droolers who insist on abusing it. So it’s five min to tone down on a few “oh crap I screwed up the coding posts” and keep some gerbils happy while not giving much room for the jerkpods to abuse the ehck out of it.
And now that I see this thread, ya’ll can test your thread-merging abilities.
Especially at $14.95 a pop.
Which is what is currently enabled. So what’s your beef?
And, btw – as for the OP’s question about whether they realized we’ll put silly stuff in the “why’d I edit” tag – of course they expect it. This is the Dope, after all. Read a few locations.
I’d put the bong down, if I were you. Just advice, like.
Exactly. I suggested just this the last time the issue came up in ATMB a few weeks ago.
Sorrrreeeeeeeeeee, QED just pointed out you aren’t “da man”, sorry if my potentially snarky query was misdirected yer way.
Guess everyone is going to be jumpy with this new insta-ban rule …
Ya know, you are like the fourth person this week to suggest something like that. Might be kilting towards slightly manic phase again. Sigh.
But most stuff that would “help” legally or not is not okay by the Hale book. I’ll have to settle for sleep and resisting to post more and just watch the fun logged out.
If only I hadn’t tried to post in the picky eater girlfriend thread about how I would love to eat eggs but not clean up the floor, table, chair and outfit afterwards, I’d have never even noticed the shyny new PM system and the changes afoot.
/em commands self to log out and sleep and watch the fracas in the morning.
Hey maybe if you’d read the whole thread and not quote-mined you’d have a point!
