And again I’ll suggest that if Members knowingly abuse the Edit function, you simply ban them and move on. Simple, fast, and it punishes only the people who need the punishment. Make it a serious enough that it’s a “no warning” ban, and eventually even the dumbest will get the message (or get weeded out; either way it’s a win).

OK, so misuse of editing happened in the past. Fair enough. Any examples? I agree that an indefinite editing period could be awkward in GQ and GD, where there is at least some potential for villainy, but surely five minutes (or three minutes, perhaps) is fine for a paying customer to tidy up initial thoughts/correct mistakes?

It’s a pain in the ascii for the mods and admins, especially when people are pancaking around being motherpancaking pancakers and pancaking all over everything.

but they could make it a few months and make that an auto-cutoff to discern necro posts from non necro posts.

but editing = pain in the ascii for mods. Much more work and nose wiping of the few droolers who insist on abusing it. So it’s five min to tone down on a few “oh crap I screwed up the coding posts” and keep some gerbils happy while not giving much room for the jerkpods to abuse the ehck out of it.

But most stuff that would “help” legally or not is not okay by the Hale book. I’ll have to settle for sleep and resisting to post more and just watch the fun logged out.
