Spock and… well, everybody, really, until the J.J. Abrams reboot. Let’s hear it for J.J.!
Okay, so there was Mariette Hartley, but that was a long time ago.

IIRC Roddenberry’s original plan was for Wesley to be Picard and Crusher’s love child (dropping alot of hints in the early episodes), but that plot point was abandoned.
I did a thread on this a couple of years ago: “Will they or won’t they” couples…who didn’t
I’ve seen that ep. Married Murray just has to let Mary know how he feels and know if she feels the same way. She doesn’t. Mr. Grant tells her about “sideclipping,” a move in football that permanently wrecks the knee of the sideclipped. Warns her about Murray’s obsession and begs he not to side-clip him. She diplomatically avoids the problem.
In another episode (These are all from the last season), Murray, Ted and Mr. Grant dream about what it would be like to me married to Mary. Ted gets the worst of it, sadly.
Another webcomic one would be Something Positive with Davan and PeeJee. Or maybe Davan and Aubrey. But the shippers seem to have let this go since Aubrey got married and Davan hooked up with Vanessa.
I once posted that PeeJee should hook up with Hanners but I think that’s unlikely.
Harry and Christine from “Night Court.” I think. Or maybe it was Dan and Christine. Roz? I suddenly realize I haven’t seen that show in a really long time.
And before her Harry and the blonde clerk whose name I’m blanking on. (Which probably would have resolved as ‘will’ had the actress not left halfway through the first season.)
Billie? Something like that?
I was going to say there were three female leads before Markie Post joined the cast, but it’s a bit more complicated than that.
In the first season, there was Karen Austin as the court clerk, Lana Wagner, and Paula Kelly as public defender Liz Williams. It must have been a mid-season replacement. There were only 13 episodes, and IMDb lists Karen Austin as “credits only” for the last three. Then Post appears in one episode early in the second season. Then it’s Ellen Foley as Billie Young through the end of the second season. And then Post again, and I think she stayed around until the end of the series.
Re Kevin and Winnie on The Wonder Years:
That wasn’t weaseling. I thought it felt absolutely true. The show was all about adult Kevin fondly reminiscing about his adolescence, and his schoolyard crush was a big part of it. But almost nobody ends up with their schoolyard crush. (Note that I said almost. No need to jump in with your own real-life exceptions!) The fact that she was a part of his “wonder years” but not a big part of his real-life grown-up years is what makes him romanticize the relationship so much while re-telling the story.
Torg and Zoe? One assumes that this will eventually have a happy “they will” ending but ye gods, this one’s been dragged out for a decade.
Ethilrist - Spock’s a good one. I liked that Mariette Hartley episode. better than the one with Jill Ireland. Though lovely Jill Ireland managed to be married to David McCallum and later to Charles Bronson, I think Hartley was a better match for Spock.
someday Sheldon & Amy will be mentioned in a thread like this.
I agree Wheelz. My nostalgia filter wanted them together. Mainly because Danicka Mckellar was my 1st TV crush, and my 1st RL crush was a real-life Winnie Cooper.
Good one!
Thank you for this.
And now that you mention her, they seemed to be setting up a will-they-or-won’t-they with Harry and Billie, too, except I think the episode where they were tied up by a robber in Billie’s apartment was the only one that actually did anything with it.
Clearly, Harry had a thing for blondes…all the women he actually hooked up with were blonde and he had UST with all 3 of his blonde coworkers…
How about John Steed and Mrs. Peel?
Ooh another good one Ethilrist. And at the end if their series Mrs Peel’s long lost husband shows up, so they never did get together
I never got any UST between Steed and Mrs. Peel. They were professionals (well, he was) and their relationship was that of partners, not luvahs.
I would sooner expect Hill and Renko to be doing the nasty than Steed and Mrs. Peel. After all, they’re British.
Yeah yet another reason Voyager was weak. She should ave ended up with The Doctor.
