Will Trump attend Biden's inauguration?

Assuming he’s not fled the country, of course he’ll attend. And if given the opportunity to speak…hoo, boy!

He won’t be there. The ONLY reason he would come would be so that he could claim that everybody was there to see HIM, and it was the biggest crowd ever!

I posted this earlier somewhere, but here it is again:

My fantasy: Trump attends the inauguration, and is arrested and frogmarched away, right there in front of the multitudes.

I think this is the inauguration equivalent of someone proposing at a wedding. We should be looking forward and that means turning away from the past.

He was an absolute pig as a pres, why would he ever entertain the notion of becoming a human at Biden’s inauguration?

The cheeseburger thing is a possibility, but someone tried that with my dog, to get him out of the house. It worked the first time, but after the dog found himself locked out in the back yard, he never fell for it again. The question is whether the Orange Imbecile is as smart as my dog. Pretty much a rhetorical question, I suppose.

Another data point on the question of attending the inauguration is the observation that attending the White House Correspondents’ Dinner has been a presidential tradition for many years, but Trump never attended (as president). IIRC, he did attend once in previous years, apparently thinking it was simply a gala event in which he could preen. When one of the comedians made a joke at his expense, he sat there with the usual stone-faced scowl, the only visible sign of emotion being that he turned even more orange than usual. He looked exactly like a pumpkin with a deceased weasel on top.

I doubt that he will attend. The size of the crowd will bother him, the cheers for Biden will bother him, and the fact that he lost to the guy he referred to as “Sleepy Joe, hiding in his basement,” will bother him.

He’ll be in the process of moving to Mar-a-Lago; or, if he’s already moved down there, he’ll be on the golf course on Inauguration Day.

“Mr. Trump, it’s 12:01 pm on January 20, 2021, and you’re no longer President. How do you feel?”

“Outta my way, Fake News, I gotta make this chip shot.”

Even Hillary attended Trump’s inauguration, and that must have really hurt. But unlike him, she’s got class.

More likely, he’ll hold a rally for his base in a big city where lots of people can easily attend.
Then he’ll declare that his crowd was bigger than Biden’s crowd in Washington, so he’s still the real president.

Then he’ll refuse to pay the bill for renting the site where the rally was held…

My guess without any snark is that Trump leaves the White House over MLK weekend to begin the change over early. There won’t be a traditional inauguration anyway due to you know what.

No, Trump isn’t leaving the country, hunkering down in the White House, or going to be arrested on January 20.

I believe he will be spending quite a bit of time in Florida. He is heading there later this week. He will just do even less than he is doing now. I’m sure he will just try twitting Inauguration Day away.

He doesn’t have to make that chip shot. That’s what Sharpies are for.
Hell just draw a hole around the ball.

So he can kick off his 2024 campaign, of course.

Seriously. That’s what I am dreading now.

100% he broadcasts some counterprogramming from “the bunker of resistance against leftist/antifa occupation, the Dubai whitehouse, by your most legitimate president ever, me!”

He’ll share stuff like photos of ballots found in dumpsters, shots of folks taking their masks down for a second, mean Twitter screenshots from leftists, AOC wearing very expensive dresses and looking hot, etc.

My money is on Trump not only skipping the inauguration but that he’ll hold some stupid counter-rally in North Dakota while the inauguration is happening.

I have long assumed that Trump will be playing golf at the exact moment his presidency ends. So it wasn’t a huge surprise that he was doing so when the election was called for Biden.

By that time his interest in fighting this will be long gone. He just won’t show up, not will be write the handoff letter. Both of those acts are inherently about respect for the office over oneself, and Trump has no respect for anything but himself.

I don’t think Trump respects himself at all, that’s why he’s so desperate for acclaim and approval from others, no matter the cost. If he had an ounce of self-respect, he wouldn’t be able to do most of the things he does.

I’m pretty sure that’s not what you meant, but I just wanted to show off my mad pop psychology skillz.

I vote no, if the spotlight’s not on him then he won’t attend. He may still not have conceded defeat by then either. He doesn’t have any respect for his opponent, nor for the democratic process, so his attendance is highly unikely.

They also brief the New Guy and bring him up to date on things that are going on, domestic and foreign. Truman did not believe Eisenhower understood what he would have to deal with. Einenhower had his doubts about Kennedy. JFK did consult with Eisenhower at least once after he took office.
