Rockefeller’s, a lovely bank building that was a fine concert venue some years ago, has now resumed offering shows. They’re throwing an Inauguration Ball that evening. First band on the list: “The Satanic Overlords of Rock & Roll.”

Looking back, my norm is to not watch the swearings/inaugurations, at least not to watch them live anyway – made a deliberate effort to catch it in 2009 due to historic considerations but that has been it for a long time.
As long as clawing out my own eyeballs remains an option, odds are against it.
No. I think even my grandfather, who went to the Mall for every inauguration from FDR to Bill Clinton’s first term except when he was stationed overseas, would have sat this one out.
I’m fairly meh about inaugurations and the inaugural balls/concerts. I watched Clinton’s in 1992 but not 1996. I watched a little bit of Obama’s 2012 one. Mostly it depends on the quality of the musicians involved in the concert, which pretty much guarantees I won’t watch Trump’s apart from what turns up on the news.
I’m going to watch? Curious to see the tone he strikes.

Lucked out – I’ll be at work, stuck in meetings all day, just by chance (almost never happens). My wife is mad at me – it won’t be quite as easy for her to avoid the whole thing.

No, but I’ve never watched the inauguration of any of his predecessors, either. Since he had a much bigger impact on my life than any president, I was much more interest in watching the departure of our “sheriff” Joe Arpaio.
Yeah, I’d rather watch the ducks too. Birdwatching is fun.
