The official Inauguration non-watching thread

Anyone else not planning to watch the [del]deification[/del]inauguration ceremony this morning? I plan to make a sandwich and pop a movie into the player. What are your plans?

I dunno about you but like most people I’m going to be at work, given that it’s any other Tuesday as far as most of us are concerned.

Snark’s a bit unbecoming, though.

I cannot imagine a president I want to see leaving office more, or an incoming president that I am more excited about. But I shed no tears that I have to work today and miss the seven-and-a-half hour coverage of the inauguration.

I want to hear the address, so I’m DVRing and will watch the speech at my convenience.

I have the Tivo set for the actual swearing-in and handoff which I’ll watch tonight, but otherwise it’s a usual day at work. In fact, I’ll probably be at the gym when it’s happening.

I’ll have to catch it later, will be at the office when it’s happening. On the plus side, even though I have to miss it, these 8 long years will finally be over in one hour and 17 minutes.

I’m not watching it right now. I image the important parts will be rerun later and ad naseum.

I’m working, but wouldn’t watch anyway. I’m very glad to see Bush go, but that’s about it. I also find inauguration ceremonies a complete snooze. I watched two and decided that they weren’t going to get any more interesting.

I hope to read about it in a newspaper. If there’s a newspaper left, that is.

I’m not exactly sure when the swearing in starts but I have to go to the dentist. Hopefully he’ll have it playing as a substitute for the normal muzak or else I’ll have to catch it later.

I’m not watching it now and I have no interest in watching it later. If I had remembered that I forgot to register when I moved to NY, I would have voted for Obama. I like the guy. I’m glad he’s going to be president. But, I have managed to never watch an inauguration in all my 29 years and I don’t intend to start watching now.

I didn’t watch the OJ verdict either.

Making a conscious decision to NOT watch stuff like this is one of the benefits of working nights. See, I COULD be watching it. I just don’t WANT to.
Actually, my plans for today involve sitting around like a bump on a log, waiting for my computer to finish defragging so I can find out if my City of Heroes graphics problem is going to go away. I can’t study without my computer. I can’t play World of Warcraft without my computer. I can’t play City of Heroes without my computer or with the graphics problem. I don’t want to read a book - for the first time in my life. And I certainly don’t want to watch 7 hours of people talking and high school bands playing. So, here I sit, using my sister’s computer, while I wait for my bedclothes to finish drying.

God - I need a life.

I’m at work, so I don’t have the option of watching it live - and I won’t be taping it to watch this evening, either. I’m much like congodwarf - inaugurations are generally boring as hell, and I don’t expect this one to be any different.

I did catch several scintillating minutes of the Obamas entering a church this morning, rather than the usual traffic reports on our local ABC affiliate. Once they’d disappeared inside, the network appeared to content itself with exterior live shots of the church, apparently waiting for their re-emergence.

I had to leave for work before that happened, though…

Not watching now. Don’t plan to watch.
I voted for the guy and glad he won but have no idea what would be interesting about watching an inauguration. Viewing formal ceremonies for me of any kind has absolutely no appeal.

Working. Not watching.

DVR’ing … but not sure if I’ll watch. I have plans tonight, so I won’t even have a chance to get near my DVR until tomorrow after work. I’m sure by then I’ll have seen all the highlights.

Still – I’ll have it for posterity on my DVR recorded list – until I need room for a Skin-a-Max movie or something.

I’m at work and scheduled to have the phone until noon. I’d sort of like to see it, but don’t really care that I’m missing it.

I’m at work. It’s on in another room but I have no interest in watching it.

I’m avoiding BBC One, where it is being shown live, and watching Married With Children instead.

Bittercakes! Bittercakes! Pretty little bittercakes! dances around Clothahump in a full Obama mask and dancer’s tights…

At work and can’t find any streaming service that is working, so I guess I’m in. I’m listening on the radio though.

I’m not watching either.

But

ditto.

LMAO!

I have no idea what you look like, but that image is going to haunt my nightmares!

Ironically, that’s how the AMC revision of The Prisoner ends.
