He riffing on FoxNews’ tendency to identify miscreant Republicans as Democrats.
And, possibly, the fact that many of Reagan’s policies and decisions are ones that, were a Republican to attempt them today, would lead to accusations of being a RINO, and probably losing his next election.

Well this was really blown out of proportion. It was directed at Trump, but the Pope was speaking figuratively, in the sense that Trump’s entire campaign is about building walls, rather than bridges between people. The point is the same however: Christians love thy neighbor, Trump does not.
Trump does realize that if he keeps this up, he will not be invited to the annual blessing of the wigs, doesn’t he?
On the other hand, the Pope may not be invited to the grand opening of “Trump Vatican City” scheduled to be opening in Atlantic City in 2018. The date is a little bit up in the air because of Trump’s design of the nuns’ habits.
And Trump reacted by calling it “disgraceful” and saying that when IS blows up the Vatican they’ll wish for a President Trump. Classic Donald. Then when he realizes that may have been a wee bit too much, here’s his way of walking it back is of course…
Well, sir, couldn’t THAT have been your answer to begin with? How about you get into a habit of first reading what was actually said/written, in context, and then afterwards reacting? Of course not, that would be un-Trumplike. Trump style is knock your block off first, ask questions later, say hey, got nothing to apoligize for, not my fault.
Donald you already KNOWS headline writers dumb down the real news. He just saw an opportunity to have a big, publicity-rich incident on the same day the SC Elected Officials* endorsed Rubio and it should have been the lede, then say “oh, that was nothing, let’s not linger on it”.
(*In a jurisdiction where many of your target voters already do not think highly of the Pope, both for being Pope and for being a moderate.)
Of course the pope is a loser. He’s a 79 year old virgin. He’s a HUUUGGEE loser.
But, the election that he won wasn’t in the US. It was an election in a nation that has a different Constitution, and no second party. And, it wasn’t a representative vote: Only male Catholics were allowed to vote. And, it was in a country in which he didn’t pay taxes.
He was ordained just before his 33rd birthday. So the answer to that is MAYBE.
