Will Trump go all "Jim Jones"?

I can’t tell you how much you’re saying so reassures all of us.

What do you see as “bizarre” or “deranged” about that?

Edited:

I literally laughed when I read that tweet - even the tragedy of Notre Dame could not suppress it. And coming just hours after he had the wonderful idea to “FIX” the 737 MAX and “REBRAND” it.

This is number 36 on the list of “typical traits of the pathological cult leader” linked to earlier:

When he leaves office with none of it happening, I will revisit this thread to call attention to how wrong and panicky you were.

I know jack shit about architecture, but even I can figure out why you don’t drop tons of water on a building like that.

I’m genuinely curious: what about that tweet made you laugh? Is it that you don’t think the suggestion would work? Is it that you don’t think the POTUS should be tweeting about fighting fires in foreign countries?

You’d destroy the building even if the fire didn’t. Isn’t that obvious?

Why do you think they don’t use water bombers on urban fires?

Isn’t it obvious? Firstly, the notion that he would have a better idea of what to do than the French fire services and national emergency agencies. Secondly, the idea that we “must act quickly”, as if no-one else had any idea that the fact that an internationally-treasured building was burning in the middle of Paris was a matter of urgency.

I know jack shit about architecture too, but why wouldn’t you dump a bunch of water on the fire? Isn’t that the usual and customary practice for fighting structural fires? Would you not do it in this case because the building on fire is really old? Something else?

They used helicopters to drop water on this building on fire. Your thoughts?

Because it would destroy what the fire didn’t, as has been said in this thread, other threads, NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, BBCNEWS, France 24 Live and every other responsible news outlet. And, no, it is not customary to put out fires like this with shit-tons of water dropped from the sky. :smack:

I know “a picture is worth a thousand words”, but without a few words about what happened your picture is worthless.

Here’s a tweet thread which explains how and why Trump is an idiot for commenting on something he knows nothing about:

https://twitter.com/GreggFavre/status/1117847726786371585

It was in April 2012 in Moscow. Here is an article about the helicopters used:

Admittedly, it’s a bit of marketing by people interested in selling firefighting helicopters, but … did they not realize dropping buckets of water on the fire would collapse the structure? Did someone forget to tell the Federation Tower it was supposed to collapse when the water hit it?

…lol

I read the tweet(s), and it was interesting, but … what does it have to do with President Trump? He doesn’t appear to mention President Trump, or President’s Trump’s tweet, or even really touch on the possibility of aerial firefighting except perhaps this one bit, indirectly:

Hmmm … if only we had a way to deliver water higher than ladder trucks can reach … maybe something like some “flying water tankers”?

While the President is Commander and Chief of the US armed forces, all members of those forces are pledged to defend and protect the Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic. If Trump did attempt to entrench himself in the White House rather than relinquish his office either due to completion of term or legal removal, he would be in flagrant violation of the constitution and, therefore, its enemy. I have doubts that he is well loved or admired by the leaders of our armed forces. I don’t really think it will ever come to it, but I think he would be put out forcefully by the military if he tried to become leader for life. If push came to shove, would he do a David Koresh or Jim Jones? Not likely. He does not live in a compound surrounded by his minions. I guess he could invite a bunch of them to the White House garden for a punch party, but that is stretching my imagination to the point of pain.

I would point out the difference between a tall modern steel structure and a low, ancient wood and stone structure…but I realized that this is less about the best way to fight a fire of this type, and more, much more, about defending Trump no matter what.
