Will Trump really serve a full term?

This is especially good when you need to say: “Iran-contra? Never even heard of it”

Is there actually a requirement that Trump move into the White House? Can he just spend his entire term in Trump Tower instead?

They had better (love Dear Leader). The penalties for failing to do so are not imaginary.

Why only 4 years …

Honestly to this day I don’t know how much Reagan knew about Iran-Contra, guys like James Baker were sometimes running their own shop (and functionally the country) under Reagan. Neither truth would surprise me, but I have no problem imagining something like Iran-Contra being planned and executed without Reagan’s involvement (the Contra part of it anyway, the arms deal to Iran part of it we have good documentation Reagan was aware of, but the subsequent diversion of proceeds to the Contra are murkier.)

But either way, it definitely does help with being able to push blame off on to subordinates if you keep things at arm’s length. Having lived through Iran-Contra, I know Reagan’s popularity took a big hit, but it felt like the real vitriol went to previously unknown Ollie North (my own grandmother, god rest her soul, political junkie and lifelong Democrat–advocated for North’s hanging.)

That’s OK, neither did Reagan back in the day. (“Nancy - did I know about this or not?”)

Bada-bing!

I hope you enjoyed the old SNL - the one with the jokes and skits and stuff. The new one, featuring Scott Baio delivering a speech, followed by the USA Freedom kids singing will not be as much fun.

But I hope you enjoy it anyway, during the required viewing time.

Shit. Four years of KellyAnne, Scottie Hughes, Kayleigh and the rest of The Stepford Surrogates.

I frankly would not be surprised if he’s impeached even with a Republican Congress. He could do something too outrageous to ignore, and a large section of the GOP would rather have Pence anyway as being easier to control.

People keep underestimating Trump and given hindsight, they need to stop doing that. He’ll likely serve all 4 years and get re-elected to another 4

I hope he stays for a full term. And leaves a trail of destruction a mile long.

If he’s sensible, he’ll retire after 3 years, letting Pence run as a sitting President. Of course, if he’s flying high in the polls (check the sky for pigs) then he’d surely be tempted to run for a second term.

I don’t think it’s required. “W” famously spent most of his time at his ranch. These days I suspect the presidency could be a work-from-home job.
Didn’t Trump make some jokes on the campaign trail that he was going to live in the new Trump International Hotel Washington? Could he force the government to pay his rent there?

In the UK that would be a taxable benefit.

He has a new tax plan.
Line 1: President Trump pays no taxes.
Laine2: loses interest

In Trump’s American, smart TVs watch YOU! So, yeah. I will be there at the required time.

I guess if it turns out that they pay the USA Freedom kids this time, that will be some comfort.

I predicted in another thread that he’ll resign once the House Judiciary Committee votes to recommend impeachment. Nixon 2.0.

He might also resign once he is shown that, no, he cannot rule by decree. He once spoke of “firing Congress.” He’ll fail in that, and become sullen. He has no idea how much “No” the President has to live with.

I thought he flew home every night because he is one of those people who can only pee in his own toilet.

Can’t find a reference. Anyone else read this somewhere?

I propose his ego won’t accept being accused of failure, which is not the same thing.

He’s already the oldest newly elected president and has the unhealthy eating habits of a 22 year old bachelor. He can’t be that long for the world I’d reckon
