OPEN SPOILERS AFTER THE FILM OPENS ON 12 FEBRUARY 2021!
I just stumbled across this trailer:
Of course, this movie could suck. It could be really, really bad. It could be so bad it’s good. Or… it could just be an awesome movie. So I have high hopes for this one.
I know it’s just a trailer, but the content (creepy abandoned amusement park/funhouse; anti-hero-with-no-name, a sense of vengeance rather than desperation, etc.) checks off a lot of cool boxes IMO. And Mr. Cage has been on something of a roll lately… even the poorly-named Jujitsu looks like a fun Predator-meets-Highlander movie.
I’m not sure where it’s going to air; I suppose many questions will be answered in a few weeks when it premiers.
I dunno, I’ve played the “Nick Cage is in it, he can’t do another bad movie, can he?” a lot, 20 odd movies. I know he’s done pretty good recently with Mom and Dad, Color out of Space, Spiderman into the spiderverse and Mandy, but there’s about TEN other movies during that time too.
I’ll hang back for the reviews, but he’s firmly in the “wait for three positive reviews before considering it” category of actors, ie: you rent it DESPITE he’s in it.
Actors who will make me watch a film: Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Clive Owen, Nick Offerman, Timothy Olyphant, Mary Steenburgen, Sam Elliott, I even watched a bunch of shit because Jason Stathan was in it, until he did the shitty car movies.
Actors who will make sure I don’t watch it. Van Damme, Seagal.
Actors on the Danger list: Bruce Willis, Nicolas Cage.
I just saw the trailer for this one this weekend at the Virtual Arisia convention. Hadn’t heard a word about it, but it looks bizarrely wonderful. I figured it fit well in this thread:
