Wimbledon 2009

Amazing for Andy, so far.

If he loses now, the loss will be even more devastating.

The ‘in running’ prices are obviously changing point by point but as at the end of game 7, Federer is still a strong favourite at 2-5 to win the match.

After game 8:

Federer 2-5, Roddick 7-4.

This is freakin’ amazing. Who’s gonna blow their service first?

You forgot Henry Kissinger!

Roddick played two great points at 15-15 and 15-30 to earn two break points at 8-8 in 5th set. But Federer played great to hold the serve. That might have been Roddicks only opportunity.

9-8 Federer! Stunning!

I can’t believe it’s another classic.

Well, that was a massive escape for Federer. Is it a sign he’s going to crack??
Sublime point there at 30-15. amazing tennis.

And Woody Allen.

When Roddick had two break points in the 17th game he went strong favourite for the match but now, it’s as you were.

Is it just me, or has Roddick’s net play improved tremendously from years past?

It’s a facet of his game his coach, Larry Stefanki, has encouraged Roddick to work very hard at.

Seems to be working.

I don’t see how this match ends. Neither player is able to put much pressure on the other’s serve. Astonishingly, though, it’s Roddick who’s had the better chances.

Me too, but I can totally see Roger sneaking one break and running away with it.

By the way, I still say last year’s final was more of a classic. Better rallies, rain delays, darkness, Nadal trying to win on grass.

Still, amazing!

Three straight aces to win the game. Yikes.

Any chinks in the armor anyone seeing here???
And now we start the seventh set…

Not so much, no. Roddick responded with an ace and two service winners in the next game. This is pretty incredible.

So Roger is officially serving better than anyone…ever. I mean, he’s about 6-7 aces short of the record, I believe.

48 aces from Federer. Amazing. Anyone know what’s the record for a Wimbledon final?

This has to be one of the finest displays of serving in Wimbledon history, perhaps the best since the Sampras-Ivanisevic games of the 90’s.

99.9% chance Wimbledon goes to the 5th set tiebreak next year (even if it triggers after 12-12 or somesuch).

Really? I think this is riveting tennis. I wouldn’t trade it for a fifth set tiebreak.

As mentioned earlier, I really like that both these players do not dilly-dally. Roddick reaches for the towel a lot. But he is ready to go in a reasonable amount of time.
