Roddick is having trouble. He’s not as composed and patient and confident.
I think the tide is turning. Federer’s serve is still acing; Roddick is having to struggle to win his service games.
The Borg looks a lot better than I expected. Although just checking in Wiki he’s much younger than I thought.
Federer is consistently getting himself into Roddick’s service games, can he make it count at last? 0-30 Fed.
Yes, he can!
Wow. Federer breaks exactly once, and it was the one he needed. Amazing match.
Roddick looked exhausted there at the end; bet he regrets the 2nd set tiebreak…
Poor guy gets broken once, and it loses the match. Gotta feel for him.
Amazing result for Federer.
Very classy speech by Andy.
Why?

That would be terrible. I think they shouldn’t do it in any major.
Totally gutted for Roddick.
This clearly meant so much to him. I really hope he can win it one day. Whether he will, with Federer and Nadal around, is another matter.
I like Andy Roddick yelling out to Roger.
“Yeah, but you’ve won 5!”

Yeah, I thought that was unintentionally condescending from Roger. “I know how much it sucks to lose.” Yeah, but you’ve also won 6, 3 of them against Roddick.
Yes, but unintentional for sure. I remember Nadal in Australia this year saying, “I’m sorry,” to Roger.
Federer has pulled off one of the most difficult feats in tennis: winning the French and Wimbledon back to back. Nadal did it last year but that was the first since Borg who amazingly achieved this three times in a row. Between Borg and Nadal, only Agassi even managed to win both in their entire career.
From the “15” on the back of his jacket, to the commercial where he’s towing the trophies, to the white and gold ensemble (including the man purse), I really think Federer has gone over the top. Bad form, dude. I’m just relieved I didn’t have to watch him weep like a little girl again.
I’m one of Roddick’s naysayers and I’m happy to be proven wrong. He has really improved his game. Tough, tough loss.
The game is hugely missing Nadal. Hope he’s healthy enough to make it to the US Open as well as our local tennis tourney Tennis Masters Cincinnati.
I’d still bang Borg.
That’s because Roger was weeping so hard that he couldn’t even speak.
My guess is that Federer’s final total of 50 aces smashes any previous final record into the proverbial smithereens.
I hope someone will come along and confirm this.
Considering that Ivo Karlovic set a new tour record of 55 against Lleyton Hewitt at the French Open a few weeks ago (he lost) I’d certainly expect 50 to be the new number for a Wimbledon final, unless a higher total lurks somewhere in the record books prior to the open era.
Wonderful game. I’m sorry to see Roddick lose but he’s probably lost to the greatest of all time. 15 titles, on all surfaces. It’s just unreal. You can tell that Sampras would love to have played Federer in his prime.
50 aces coupled with perhaps the best baseline game of all time is amazing.
Yes, that is why they just built a roof on Centre Court. That’s exactly what they are thinking :dubious:
I, for one, did not miss Nadal. I am sick off seeing him pull wedgies out the crack of his ass.
