My Dads Win98 box blew up recently so he formatted the drive and reinstalled windows. Everything works fine except freecell. Now, losing freecell is either a) the best productivity enhancement ever or b) a waste of a good computer. Since my Dad is retired a) doesn’t mean much.
The problem is that a)the gold borders around the cells aren’t present and b) when you move a card from the cell the cell becomes black. So far we have downloaded all the Win98 patches, downloaded the freecell exe and cards.dll from microsoft, removed the games via the add/removes programs CP run a thorough scandisk and defrag and then reinstalled freecell. BTW, all the above with nothing running in the background. Still no joy.
MS troubleshooting area has nothing on this issue with the exception of an issue with Win32SDK that my dad doesn’t have.
At this point I can’t think of anything else but getting Norton disk doctor, which has a better disk scanning tool from what I hear or reformatting the drive. I’d suggest installing freecell to a new directory but that isn’t an option.
Help please.
