Is there any way that I can get a wind-up (non-electronic) record player, without forking out money for something that gets most of its value from being an antique?
What are you going to play? You can still buy Caliphone record players, which were very common in grade schools, but they do need power. If you’re wanting to play 78’s, there are modern 78 RPM players available, but they are in the “antique” style. In fact, if one isn’t careful they might be taken in by their distressed appearance and pay antique prices.
The only wind up record players I recall were for 78 rpm shellac records.
Vinyl ran at 33 1/3 rpm and the 8?" were 45 rpm. 8 track tapes???
Try an antique store.
A place called The Sovietski Collection had Russian or Swedish gramophones in their catalogue at one time. Maybe there are some mint-condition ones from the '40s or '50s somewhere?
